I'm sure some people will be really happy, and that Wargaming has figured out that it won't reduce gameplay quality (noticeably), or something like that. Cough.

Doubt it'll change much. I dislike the 'design trend' of maps more than two maps in particular. Removing two out of the mix won't really matter. To me, that is. Someone that loves playing certain classes might love being able to remove maps where their class is particularly useless. Prokhorovka and Malinovka for heavies, for instance.

As for which ones I want gone, I have to wait and see. I bet the most unpopular maps will simply get less rotation just from being a less likely fit for a team. Ideally, someone would get a large-ish sample from non-blacklisters and figure out which maps are very unpopular - then figure out what maps other than those they'd want removed.

(My bet is on Mountain Pass and Pilsen. I think, anyway.)

I reckon fjords, mines, paris, empires border and ensk will be the top 5. Perhaps abbey

Corridor maps just bad design, lazy design

The only difference I can foresee is that the match maker might take a little longer to create teams which should not be an issue if you play mostly peak hours.

I do not intend to block any map.

It is not money grabbing at all. How are you forced to spend money ?

If you do support the game financially it just gives you more options; what is wrong with that ?

My info at time of writing wasn’t correct. Didn’t know you could blacklist 1 map without prem.

It’s still gimmicky. It’s practically pointless. I’m personally crying out for more variety of maps not less.

Well, for one I won't miss watching half my team drive down to the beach on Overlord! :D

The MM changes are much bigger than the map blacklist, personally speaking, and so far I've been pleasantly surprised with the new MM.

We had a rough winter man,

summer is coming, let us chill in the beach a bit.

I think you have an optimistic view of the playerbase, I reckon one of the most blacklisted maps will be Prohk.

This game is made up of Steves and they don't like open maps. ,

Yeah, a great map to watch your "team" melt away.

in the end it all comes down how flexibly you can adjust these settings ... if it is only once per day/week/month it will be different from when maps can be locked whenever I want.

This part of the mechanism isn't completely clear to me ...

ok, there is that, but when your team doesn't melt, there is plenty of time to inflict lots of damage/shots on the red team ... and it's relatively predictable where the 'big' targets will be :)

I am sure I read you can change it every 4 hours.  So presumably if you were doing sessions in certain tanks you could tailor your blacklist to suit, but even with the new premium account and having two options, I doubt it would have much impact. I mean if you were playing lights for example and you got rid of say Abbey and Paris, you'd still have to play on Mountain Pass, Ensk, Himmelsdorf, Ruinberg, Minsk, Pilsen, and all the other maps crap for your tank.

Playing for years now on these maps is incredibly boring...

Exclude one or two is not gonna change anything for me!

The effect will be more lights and arties on average on open maps and more heavies on average on closed/city maps.

For my lights I'll block ENSK and Himmelsdorf or Lakeville and for heavies Prokhorovka and mybe malinovka or mines.

Thing is though, like 50% of the playerbase allegedly has never even opened the options, so this feature is unlikely to be used by most players so I doubt it'll have much impact generally.

Given most players already have the minimap blacklisted I'm not convinced this will change gameplay much.

Only for prem accounts!? That’s a bit ... bollox.

Tbh there are too many maps I’d not want to play - don’t see it making a mass game changing experience. In game I don’t see it being noticeable at all. Personally stats might improve a little bit but how many times have you got ensk in a LT for example, thought “oh great ... another pointless battle” and then come away with a blinding performance? Happens to me a fair bit anyway.

I find it gimmicky. And blatantly money grabbing.

The MM however is much improved recently imo.

Everyone gets to block 1 map for free. Premium accounts get a second map they can block from the rotation.
