Is the Badger line even worth it?

I don't mind the slow speed for the accuracy, pen and armor protection, but how often do you get outplayed in your ATs? I never had any trouble with any of the ATs, not even the Tortoise, except when stock or Badger, won a 1v1 vs a gold firing AT-15 in my IS using regular ammo. Obviously you can't sit behind a rock and expect to do damage that way, but what is the playstyle like? Are the concrete fortresses worth playing?

I don't think they are, except if they're fun for you.

(Or maybe if you need to do some bounce mission.)

The AT-2 (unless you get bottom tier) and the Tort (since its buff) can be fun, with the Badger basically being a DPM version of the T95.

The TDs between are above-average at most.


Anyway they are all susceptible to Arties, HEDerps (KV-2/Type 4 and 5s) and maps like Sand River. You can't change flanks with them either so if you end up picking the wrong flank to reinforce well then hf reacting with 20 km/h.


I guess best way to describe them is that you'll have the occasion fun (esp if you wanna min/max stats i.e food) but not the consistent enjoyment.


Still, I'd recommend the AT-2 for that rare seal-club opportunity. :medal:

AT-7 and 8 are good only when top tier, and in a corridor. AT-7 has the gun off to the side, so around a corner you can hide the cupola. Then you can bounce all day. AT-15 is only a good support TD. Armor is not that great on it unlike his tier 7 premium little brother vs the guns he faces. But on the 2nd line that 20 prd works like nothing else. You just eat up the damage. But that's 1 out 7 games if that. Tortoise is all about the gun. Take a hit from an E100 and DPM him to death. Its armor is better after the buffs. But vs anything with speed and traverse, you will be outplayed. It can work as an aggressive TD.


They need corridors to work well. They need guns behind them. And on the open maps they need not to be spotted at all. They are situational even with the armor. But that odd game when they work. You suddenly remember why you did not sell them. Ensk is the feeding ground of my Tortoise. I'm sure 90% of my Ace badges on that thing are from that map just getting in their faces holding down the button. And you can't do that on many maps sadly.

Badger is pretty rare in the battlefield, although both tier IX and X have monster DPM, people rarely play it.

I saw a lot of them after the changes but I rarely met any these days. Probably because a certain Russian assaulg gun found it's way into the game?

I like it and play it a bit, I class it pretty much the same as t10e3 but I would prefer the e3's higher alpha. Also there are tanks that can pen the upper hull like the jpgz or 268 when firing gold, but its rare for that to happen.

For randoms, they are good for players that don't mind slow lumbering vehicles that are very vulnerable once enemy tanks close in.

The DPM is outstanding, and can be sustained and medium to long'ish ranges.  AT15 & Tortoise can double track an enemy tank and in the AT15's case, deal death by 100 paper cuts.  The Tortoise with the 120mm is less subtle, faster death via several hammer blows hehe.

The Badger has the highest DPM in the game if I am not mistaken.

Randoms tanks.  I do not recall ever hearing an FC call for Badgers in tier 10 Advance or CW, or AT15 in T8, or AT8 in T6.

Well Badger has the same problem as all slow turret less TDs. You go to the wrong flank, or if enemy all go the opposite flank you won't be fast enough to relocate and you have a crappy battle. And you rarely see someone stupid enough to sit in front you for you to drain their HP. Tanks like T95 at least have that 750 alpha and you take 4 shots, 3k damage. In badger you need a lot more shots and the pen is very bad for TX.

As usual the Badger was lauded by WG on release. And initially it seemed like a good tank because nobody knew how to play against it, and then as usual with WG's tier X tanks it very quickly subsided into the swamp of MM and power creep mediocrity they intentionally create to pave the path for the next wonder tier X tank, and so on.......

I actually enjoyed playing the Badger a lot on the most recent Test Server (1.4, not the one today), but I don't think I can recommend the line being slow, turretless TDs.

Steer clear of Badger buggering.....A farmer told me that once in 1983. They don't seem to be very popular, when I first started WoT the AT2 was renowned as a seal clubbing TD.

for what is my experience I can say yes, I played the English lines of fv215b [later replaced by S.Conqueror] and fv215b 183 [later replaced by badger]
I can say that it was the two lines that struck me the most, I found all the tanks especially amusing, the Tortoise which was a strong tank even before they improved it and the caernarvon also before the buff and I had a great time.

Now the tanks have been improved and the badger line is more balanced and sensible than before.


For the rest, the badger is an extremely strong tank, but it must like the type of tank and its playstyle.
I also used it in the cw and with excellent results in many maps in defense and it proved to be a fundamental vehicle, in the random you can suffer in some maps but if you know how to make the tank dpm you can make exceptional matches
