How to not lock the hull when switching to sniper mode in a tank destroyer?

Don't have much experience with tank destroyer. But from some replays on youtube and watching some streamers I have notice... Let me try to describe, currently if I see an enemy on my 3 o'clock position, I move my mouse cursor over him without holding any button and press 'shift' which is my switch-to-snipe-mode key, my tank destroyer will stop the moment the snipe button is pressed and have hull-lock engaged automatically. But that seems not the case for many replalys and livestreams I have seen, when they enter the snipe mode, the hull of their tank destroyers won't lock automatically, instead the tank will keep turning until the gun is face towards the enemy. So I'm wondering is this something in the setting or that's mod enabling that.

The lock-hull qucik key in the setting doesn't help at all. Since everytime you enters sniper mode in a tank destroyer the hull-lock will always engage itself automatically and I can't manually turn the hull lock off with my hot key.

IMO this makes a huge difference in corner peeking with a non-turret TD, since you lock onto your target much faster and without second adjustment for gun traversing.

I play turretless TDs alot and my hull always locks when in sniper mode. I got used to it. I just exit sniper mode or use keys to move left or right when I want to re-adjust my aim.

But...but I want the extra edge for quick snapping shoot with my tank destroyer and it helps minimizing the exposure of my hull around the corner with a little bit extra angling for armor thickness.

Maybe you could say what tank you are playing.... you know it could be helpful to know.

Install a mod like ProMod or Aslain that let you disable the hull lock (handbrake).  Allows you to move the tank with the mouse & transforms tanks like the E25 for me at least.  I think the mod restores the way turretless tanks used to behave before the patch that brought in the Swedish TDs.

Foch 155 to be specific but doesn't it applies to every non-turret tank destroyers?

Use a mod or use X to toggle it, but hull lock is useful.

I don't think that works anymore.  I had to use a mod to fully switch it off.

You're welcome.  I find some tanks like the E25 unplayable without that mod.

X key locks a TD hull in 3rd person view allowing you to look around without turning and losing camo/binoculars. It does NOT unlock the hull when in sniper mode.

Apart from mods, perhaps these players are simply hitting the turn keys.
