There are threads opening about how WVs are game breaking.

 

But how? Or why?

 

Please let me know as I am curious to understand your point of view.

i dont dislike them.

but they are really annoying when in TD or a Heavy, as they can hit and run before you can react.

i have trouble choosing who to shoot at, the fast WV behind me or the other guy in front of me.

I don't dislike them, personally haven't been affected at all by them.

I dislike the fact that they can't be tracked. This was always the great danger for light tanks, if you got tracked you were dead. Yolocars... just lol.

Other - Because they can't do the same things they've always done and are having to adjust their game play to deal with the new wheelies and people don't like change.

They dislike them because those who play them are actually having fun.

Personally it boils down to how they've indirectly nerfed all other LT's apart from a select few, how their wheels are better armor than what any HT got in-game and how many off them have WR curves showing them overperforming quite a bit.

Only thing I really dislike about them is their high pen HE that goes straight through my MT's frontal armour.

  • Problematic hitboxes which result in many critical hits.
  • Ridiculous top speed both forwards and backwards.
  • Gun handling is just too good combined with high shell velocity gives them the ability to shoot and hit on the move with little chance of being hit back.
  • The low view range and top speed combination is conducive to bad game play and suicide scouting which could work just because of badly designed vehicles not because of sound tactics or proper choices.
  • They're invulnerable to tracking unlike every other tank in the game.

The Chi-Ri can't bounce any kind of HE shells though... :trollface:

The problems I face with them are:

  • Too many dumb allies that have no clue how to deal with them, which gives enemy team advantage, simply because of dumb players.
  • Yolo-scouting allied WV that throw games for no reason (though that's a bit off-topic)
  • Not having them yet, but expect them later on: getting spotted when doing light missions, not because enemy player makes a good move, but only because it's yoloing.

 

Other players hate them, because:

  • They can't track them and have no clue how to lead their shells.
  • Fantasy of high accuracy on-the-move, while that's not the case when I play them.. I miss most of my shots, when playing them, even on almost flat terrain and driving in a straight line.

Its still early days with these new Vehicles, I think we will get used to them and how to beat them.

There are problems its true the enhanced auto aim

is an advantage

 

There does seem to be a misunderstanding when it comes to tracking them.

I have been hit in the wheels plenty of times and you may not stop moving but you do lose speed and the steering often gets much worse.

You also lose crew a lot and when the driver takes a hit as well as the wheels you are in just as much trouble as any tank.

Very similar to an engine hit where you just crawl away at half speed.

 

I see them as an anti scout they are perfect for nailing enemy light tanks

Basically, dumb players...no surprise there. :trollface:

 

Their hitboxes are fine, it's just that most players mistake fenders for armor :D so they think the wheels absorbed the shot but there's no actual armor behind the wheel, there's a fender! :teethhappy:

 

The wheels are good protection from HEAtspammers though, that's a big plus in my book. ;)

Other: As in they can't do the role WG set them out to do. At all. As the base view range makes spotting useless, even at speed. As spotting distance is based on your view range vs their camo. And when that view range is 300 base? Well... And the tier 6 is not even fast vs tracked lights it faces for that to even work. 

 

They are good support guns to tracked lights to counter enemy lights. But that's about it. The common stuff everyone that has not played them yet complains about is something I get to do 1 out 10 games... if that.

Other.

 

1. They go too fast for the game. There is always a bit of server side lag, which isn't a problem with speeds up to roughly 60. Above that, and it becomes harder than it should be to hit.

2. Magic hitboxes. JP E100 hit in the side: crit hit, no dmg. Sorry, but no. Hitting the wheels should deal hp dmg. 

3. Insanely accurate on the move. Racing at 90 km/ph should mean you can't shoot at all.

4. They move too well on soft ground. Tanks got tracks for a reason. How on earth is it that wheeled vehicles outperform tanks on the very ground tanks were designed to move on?

 

5. The combination of the above.

 

WV upset the balance in a bad way. I can see why they need to perform well even on ground that should bog them down, but at least make it so that hitting them is a) possible, and b) rewarding. Hit a tracked scout and it stops, even if you only got a crit no dmg hit. A wheeled vehicle just keeps going and is barely slowed down. And it is of crucial importance that shooting on the move is not a thing at high speeds. That is what is upsetting the balance the most, imho.

Right now they out perform all the same tier light tanks and I can think of a lot of detunes to stop that. But I don't dislike them like others hate SPG. However, the devs need to do real world tests, say put a WV vs a light of the same tier/crew/item and make sure the light always wins. That way the WV are no longer OP, as they need weaknesses. Right now I could hit a light its tracked and a WV just keeps on going. Is that fair?

 

They became a skill challenge like SPGs are and that is why you get the haters I think. These types of person need a simpler and much easier game where they have advantages.
