Very nice little article, these tanks are strange conceptually and would have been an interesting addition to the battlefield

Looking forward to playing them in WoT :)

From the looks of it, it might appear as if Hägglund used that casestudy to develop the CV90 class of IFVs in the 1990ies. I found this site with some rather interesting concepts. http://www.ointres.se/udes.htm

Armour is a myth in this meta

Shoot and scoot is the tactic, similar to the Leo. You pick and choose your engagements making maximum use of cover to hide your hull and turret - only give the enemy a tiny shot of your tank for split second

well UDES is great as TD.

By watching gameplay of UDES Tier 10 MT I have good initial impression for - Penetration, Strong Turret, High Alpha Damage

Perhaps next month Top of the tree will be UDES line

PS Off topic question

When shall we see some new arty line - Chinese, Japanese, Polish are good examples.

Please do not buff any arty line.

This Leo is terrible to play stock. Thin armor and slow as HT

Just beware, because they like to ignite when hit from the front!

Not entirely, their frontal turret armor is nicely sloped, surely it will ding one or two shells :)

"This initiative was officially christened Underlagsgrupp Direkt Eld Stridsfordon or UDES in short, which we could translate to Surface Group Direct Fire Combat Vehicle."

Your Swedish skills remain less than great(and can we PLEASE have "general" in Frontline actually translated as GENERAL, because "Allmän" is NOT a rank, it means ~COMMON, or general in the sense of generalised, "allmäning" is ~"common area" .

"Underlag" in the above has absolutely nothing to do with "surface".   The results of research done for something is the "underlag".

"Research Group" would at least not be blatantly incorrect.

Hilarious.

Not even built in wooden models, merely drawing sketchs of the three new Swedish ingame medium tanks.

Yet during the same timeframe as the Swedish tanks were being developed, thought about and not implemented, the first mk1 Chieftain is accepted into operation. Design of the FV4201 started in 1958, and the first prototype was built in 1959. Six other prototypes and a pre-production series of 40 tanks followed from 1961 to 1963. It was eventually accepted for service in May 1963

In 1966 it cost then about £90,000 to build one.

It comes with an L11A5 120mm rifled gun, so bigger than the 105mm on the paper Swedes.

Including all variants and export models 1,381 variants and export versions were built and the UK army took a further 900 meaning a total of 2,281 fifty five tons of steel were built.

Chieftains saw combat with Iran, Iraq, and Kuwait.

Yet instead of implementing an early model or prototype Chieftain into World of Tanks PC we get paper Swedes. Unfathomable thinking by WG.

I would love this! Should we start a petition to bring the Chieftains in the game? :great:
