This may not be the right place to post this topic, but I couldn't find a "tech discussions" topic.

So, I used to play the game in update 1.0 and 1.1 in december or something, and I used to get 70+ frames in ultra settings. Then I took a break and I came back last week, and I noticed that even in lowest settings I barely get 70 frames with drops on some maps. I have no idea what's causing the drop, but keep in mind that I have no mods installed, and gforce experience set my recomended settings to ultra.

Specs - GTX1050, I5 7300HQ (it's a lenovo laptop)

Check for programs/processes running in the background?

1. Uninstall World of Tanks.

2. Perform clean re-install of World of Tanks.

3. Try and use the repair tool.

4. Try running WOT in safe mode.

5. Check the heat and heat throttling of your laptop.

6. Bring up Task Manager and see what else is running.

Not necessarily in the above Order.

Another thing to try update GPU drivers and run in 'Reset graphics mode'

So, I reinstalled the game, and used the repair tool, nothing. Not sure how to run the game in safe mode tho.

Found the safe mode, still bad performance...

the main problem could be that of high CPU and GPU temperatures
I advise you to check the temperatures during the game, high temperatures could activate the thermal throttling of your processors making you lose performance , increase the speed of the fans and in case replace the thermal paste and clean the heatsinks and fans well.
Clean all your computer.

other possible causes:

  • problems with incorrect or too high graphics settings from the graphics driver panel
  •
  • outdated graphics driver, try searching for an update for your GPU
  •
  • Obsolete system drivers, use driver boosters [it's free] and update all your system drivers
  •
  • corruption in some windows files [run the sfc.exe/scannow command via cmd.exe as an administrator to verify that windows is intact]
  •
  • too many junk files slow windows, clean disk using the windows tool
  •
  • malware/trojan/virus/adware, try with an antivirus scan , use "malwarebytes antimalware free edition" to clean your pc from dangerous software
  •
  • if you use a mechanical HDD perform a complete defragmentation
  •
  • if you use an SSD perform maintenance and scan for file system errors and try to update your SSD's firmware if an update is available
  •
  • missing windows update, update windows
  •
  • some errors in the directx component, start the "dxdiag" command and check that there are no hardware or software errors. Upgrade the directx component to its latest version
  •
  • Use some free tools to remove errors from the registry, I strongly recommend the free program "eusing free registry cleaner"
  •
  • Excessive overclocking of some components such as RAM or GPU VRAM can lead to errors and loss of performance, try removing overclocking to your components.
  •
  • If you do not solve in any way, you have the last choice to use the microsoft "windows media tool" file that allows you to install without losing any data or programs or settings.
  • It's called in place installation, very convenient for resolving errors in the operating system.

then using a laptop you have to use a hot air vent, the ventilated bases are completely useless.
I advise you to buy the Klimm Cool + on amazon, on the laptop where I play I gained -20 degrees on the processor

I always have performance problems after upgrades. Usually I upgrade to the latest drivers in my GPU (rx480) and it solves the problems.

Verify that the game is actually using the GTX and not the Intel graphics.

Ok, I fixed it, it was using the processor integrated graphics card instead of my nvidia card. Can be locked

I also have fps drops often, it drops from 37 to 18fps and then it goes back to 37+fps, and the game also often freezes for a second and then it runs normal again

Your CPU is simply weak for the game.
