I find this map unbalanced for heavies when you start from the  south spawn on Mannerheim Line . You can't cross because lights will spot you for their tds near that bunker , and before you get down to fight , you already find ennemy tanks because its easier for them to reach there as they can use that downslope , all that being covered while you are not.

Souths LT's can spot quite a few things from their spotting bush as well and the LT's going to the bunker area from the north is quite exposed if their team don't push hard in the north. However both sides require HT's to be smart in terms of the route they pick to their targeted location just as for example on Lakeville.

Yes it's, there is a safer route to the brawling area closer to the water (the red line on the map). Please don't drown your heavy, use a training room to test that route.

If you're in a very slow heavy, there are other areas you can defend from. Just don't drive ahead and waste your tank.

South side has better arty cover.

Just close off G7 and connect the two hills, then make a route by the rockside at the south part of the middle lake (F6) which tanks can use to cross, as an alternative to G7.

Now the heavies will be safe, both from spotting and from arty.

And their guns going north suffers the same way if the other team has an aggressive light there. It's not a symmetrical map. So north have some positions to abuse, just like south can, just not at the same spots.

as TDs in the C8 balcony can't shoot them while crossing anymore.

But what is this got to do with anything?

If you make a path south of the lake which tanks are going to cross here? lights from the north spawn? and how are they going to pass under the nose of TDs in the G4 balcony? Also making a direct path this close to the southern base won't make problems for the defenders?

Mannerheim line is balanced just fine, even if asymmetrically. The problem is that in most cases whomever pushes forth loses.

Uh... the path to the NORTH base comes even closer even as it is right now so I don't see an issue... tanks from the south can't pass under the nose of the TDs in the D8 balcony either.

There is a bush already there, the northspawn scouts would be able to proxy the bush to counter it.

Okay but what is that got to do with heavies moving out of the southern base to the J9 area?

Oh I was just talking about the map design in general, I just quoted your post for the map image, haven't said anything about J9.

But now that you mention it, I do wonder why it's not the same as from the south spawn...with a little road heading down to the beach sooner, so heavies wouldn't have to risk drowning.

It's like Mountain Pass. One spawn can spot all the heavies of the other side. As a result both maps are unbalanced for heavies
