Hello,

I've recently wanted to start completing the Excalibur missions and was nearing the last mission when I ran into something you could call a bug that makes the mission impossible. Although it's not really a real bug, but more the way the game registers damage.

 

Anyways, the mission involved blocking 2ce your hp worth of damage with Soviet tanks. So I thought using a low tier heavy like the t-150. This is when I ran into the issue... CRITICAL HITS.

 

So with the t-150 you would need to block somewhere around 1700 damage. And you would say, well that is easy, just do some sidescraping, but you would be wrong... Any shell that gets absorbed by external modules won't count towards the damage blocked. Even if those would have hit the armor if the tracks didn't eat it.

 

This means that any damage done to you on external modules isn't counted, and of course high explosive damage isn't registered either. Because most of the time you block like 400 he damage, but because you still take 4 damage it's counted as a penetration.

 

If this damage was registered I would have finished the mission already, because in all the games I make it close to 1.5k blocked, I take most of the hits in the tracks, which means I would easily get to 3k if those where counted.

 

What I suggest is that HE splash and external modules hits are counted towards blocked damage. For HE I'd say potential damage minus damage done multiplied by some constant to make it less op to just eat arty hits. For external modules hits: any shot that would hit the tank if not eaten by tracks should be counted towards damage blocked, because right now critical hits almost never give damage blocked because the shell is absorbed in the tracks.

Union-12 is easiest when done in SU-100M1, which at tier VII can bounce most tier V tanks front on all day, makes Union-12 completely trivial when the SU-100M1 gets to be top tier.

While I would like to see totally absorbed HE shell count as blocked damage, take into account that the shells, to be registered as damage blocked by armour, should hit the armour first. Shells that hit your tracks and pass under the hull of course doesn't count as those are a miss in terms of damage calculations.

The point of the missions are a challenge. It defeats the point if you just change the requirements to suit what you can personally manage.

I did that with the Defender.

 

Top tier, full retard. Played it only two times. Got the mission complete.

 

Pathetic...

 

These sort of missions are accomplished by chance and not by skill of the player, depend on others not shooting gold, etc.

I really struggled to the point of insanity trying to do the 279e mission where you have to block 40 hits within 5 games. Next to impossible but then I bought is-6 on discount and finally did it. Blocking missions are the worst and I think op has a valid point. So frustrating blocking shots and not getting the hit counted.

After all you blocked a damaging shot by some armor part of the tank even if the already damaged tracks are hit first...

Now have to do some coalition blocking missions for which I'll try to use new swedish meds...

In my opinion HE should never count as blocked and always do ANY damage. On the other hand, tracks absorbing damage should count as blocked. Strange thing is that it sometimes is counted, sometimes not.

Blocking missions are dumb as hell.
A good player would avoid being hit at all.

Did this mission in the defender by driving in the middle of Lakeville. Ofc we lost but hey, mission is mission ;-)
