So, the game is widely regarded as a very toxic experience, and it definitely is. Some of that is inevitable, after all, it simulates war. However, I think an option to quickly send positive messages may help somewhat.

Obviously, there is no time to type "yours sincerely" in chat during battle, and dead players tend to rant about mistakes made by others or inherent injustice in the game (arty, TDs etc). We do have quick premade messages available, but these are purely functional commands like "Follow me" or "Defend the base". All we need is a few more to quickly broadcast some kindness.

There are many moments in game when someone does something helpful: flipping overturned mates, saving his butt from an enemy, spotting diligently or just giving way. But as everyone is busy fighting, often there is no response, no reinforcement of positive action.

So I propose to implement a hotkey that says "Thank you", either in general and/or targeted like "Fall back" and others. There may be more possibilities like "Good job" or "Sorry". I'm sure these would ease the tension and help creating a better experience. What do you think?

I basically use "Affirmative" for that.

I do the same, but you see, in real life no one would appreciate saying "Affirmative" when you receive a gift of a compliment....

That could easily be misinterpreted to be negative.  For instance someone rights you, you say Affirmative, they take it as meaning "that's your job and al you are any good at, minion".

I can generally manage to type a "ty" which I hope most people playing online games will know, even if they don't speak English.

I don't understand the negative notion about toxicity , i find it fun and entertaining ,i look at it as something amusing that makes the particular game interesting and stands out of all the boring games where you feel like playing with bots ,toxicity is live free entertainment enjoy it .

:)

When someone orders "Follow me" does anyone actually follow the self consented generalissimos' order? I go in the opposite direction.

Yeah I would also like a Thank you button but atm Affirmative gets the job done.

Btw after over half a decade, WG hasn't added a very simple mini map-ping spam blocker so an a-hole who didn't get their way won't be able to sh1t on our nerves.

But then I'd have to learn an entirely new F key bind to say thank you to someone. It's a whole drama!

Usually when I 'tell' someone to "Follow me!" or "Halt", they were in the way of my cursor changing the contextual nature of the button I actually wanted to press... I actually think "Follow me" is on 't', so I sometimes tell somebody to follow me when I'm asking for targeted fire.

But yes, generally, I'm tempted to do the opposite of what people ask me to do, especially since most of those requests are made by people who are about to throw their tank away in a pointless maneuver. For some reason the past few days, I've seen various people claim the right way to play Prok is to rush the 1-2 line... because you're totally not going to run into any enemies of which most are unspotted and who will blow you up.

I also just press Affirmative to acknowledge positive action, or quickly type "ty" or "thanks" if that's more applicable. I think positive behaviour is more a mindset than a button, though I wouldn't object to a hotkey for it, it can help a little.

They list map pinging as "Known Issues" in latest patch notes, which basically means that they don't want to solve it.

I still think that providing built-in means of positive action may help, but I never ceased to believe in humanity.

A "thank you" hotkey can (like most things) be use in a toxic way.

If someone trolls you and you give them a reply. You just get a "Thank you" back at you.

It's something as simple as a 2 kb script. This in my opinion, only proves WG's incompetence. If something doesn't make them money then it won't be on their list.

That is true for a lot of gaming companies but at least some of them, while they are greedy, they also improve the game. WG rarely does anything good, and when they do for ever step forward, they take 3~4 steps backwards.

OP it's a great idea.  The Z menu for commands if it had more options in there in the same round format highlighted with mouse rotation could actually help with all the different user languages spoken in game as it would auto translate intentions.
