Hi everyone,

since a few weeks, before 1.5 update, I'm experiencing little lag spikes every 10-15 seconds while playing. My ping is usually between 20 and 30 ms and it raises up to 50-60 ms (at least, this is what the indicator says... I guess in reality it raises a lot more in that exact moment) during those lag spikes, while the light indicating the connection becomes red for an instant. I don't have any other problems with other things such as full HD live streaming or downloading.

I'm wondering if this can only be related to my internet connection... In Jenuary I moved into my new home and since then I never had any problem with it, until this one showed up. Are there other possible explanations? Maybe hardware-related? I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to computer management, so every little help is very much appreciated :)

its most likely your internet, shut down your router few minutes and change router channel, or maybe its just your neighbour doing neighbour things.

I am experiencing the same crapsince they started FL this year. For any kind of battle mode.

Happening only with this game, no internet provider changes.

I'm not using wireless connection and I'm the only one using it... Tried to reboot the router lots of time, never worked :/

What graphics settings do you use to play WoT on?

Is your AV / firewall set up to ignore WoT?

I would check your ping outside the game.

if theres any breaks then it might be your hardware or connection or graphics settings too high.

Go to command prompt, type; ping www.worldoftanks.eu -t (hit enter) and it should keep pinging the website. if its around 20/50ms constant response then your connection is fine. if there are breaks in the responses then its a problem with your connection. finding out if the connection problem is down to you /your hardware or your ISP is another story, you'll need 'ping plotter' for that.

if the connection is fine and you're still lagging, turn your graphics down.

These steps usually help me, I hope they help you too :)

I havnt had much lag myself since 1.0, well, not since finding out my wifi dongle was actually outside and getting wet...…

Are you using WiFi?

If so try a cable.

also

Download pingplotter

point it at login.p1.worldoftanks.eu or login.p2.worldoftanks.eu

let it run while you play a few rounds.

save the trace as an image and post it on here.

I've been getting this since 1.5 too. However around the same time I changed from Win7 to Win10 and started using a VPN, so I suspect user side rather than WG side. If it was server/game related, more people would be noticing it.

Had that after a video driver update once. Had to totally clear the driver from the system to fix it. (used the public DDU driver uninstall software)

The thing I usually do is connect another system to the same network connection and see if that lags as well. Almost any time that happend, it was the PC, not the connection. Sometimes it's faster to just reinstall Windows than to do all the system checks.

Oh if you still use an old style HD; drive check / defrag first maybe? (But really WoT enjoys a SSD).

Had the exact same problem myself when FL was on making the game almost unplayable but it disappeared after FL finished....

(doesn't help you at all but same issue!)

Spoke too soon - micro lags in last couple of games!!

Agreed, WoT runs a lot better on SSD or NVMe than HDD's - even high speed hard drives struggle.

Also if your HDD is old, it might be starting to fail and that can cause your entire system to lag/freeze. Upgrading and/or backing up is highly recommended before you lose all the data.

I once lost 600Gb of data when my Seagate Barracuda HDD suddenly and without warning failed. Never again using that brand.

I also have lags and the annoying part is when the lag kicks in, the aiming circle maxes out and it has made me miss a lot of shots and even lose some games because of those shots. I know it's my internet and there is nothing I can do. It's probably some bad wiring in my house since I have switched my ISP as well and got the same results.

Doubtful.

That would give you a lower synch speed than you should get, i.e. a slower connection, but WoT needs very little anyway.  It would not cause packet loss or increase your ping.

The lack of pingplotter results in this thread is disappointing though not entirely unexpected.

I installed pingplotter a while back and ran the test. Couldn't make heads or tails of it and uninstalled it.

That's what step four is for.

Well back then we didn't have a thread like this and if we did, I didn't find it. I might reinstall it and post it here. The problem is not super annoying that's why I never really tried to fix it.

There has never not been a thread about lag.

And you are allowed to create your own.

Don't you even want to know if there's an easy fix?
