I know it's made out of a certain chemical element named after a certain Georgian leader, but the fact you can reliably pen only a single plate on the sides is in my opinion, ridiculous.

Don't shoot 257 side on if it's not crossing your road. Just aim for the less angled frontal plate or for the back.

Yeas it is ridiculous, but in this game all tanks are stupidly strong from the side. Of course the russian tanks are even more broken than others in a broken physics. What do you expect from a russian game?

Really?? Just shoot it high on the side and it's no problem.  This tank has been in the game for how long now and ppl still struggle?

What is the purpose of armor then? Why not remove it from all vehicles?

I'm pretty sure the front armor is thicker than the side armor, but because reasons you can easily pen the front but the side is quite another beast.

Because this tank supposed to be tier X.

WG just nerfed slightly the lower plate and made it a tier 9. GG WG !

That tank's front glacis is probably the easiest to pen out of all Russian Tier 9 HTs. Obj 705 has it in reverse. Good front armor while side armor is blerghlefbelp.

This, if the enemy is bad, you are a god in it.

If they are good, you'd best be playing like it's an IS-3.

Russian magic armour at work again, first you spend 8 years teaching your players to shoot Russian tanks between the tracks below the storage bin spaced armour nonsense.

Then you introduce a tank which is completely the other way around because Reasons ( tm) and Logic ( tm) and expect it will work where shooting between the tracks will always bounce and shooting the storage baskets will always pen.

It's just the same inconsistency that plagues most of this game still.

It's the same as the 907 and T-22: V-hull.

WoT isn't ready for V-hulls. But at least in the case of the 257, you can actually see it. On the other mediums, there's a flat plate where the suspension is mated to the hull and so, the V-hull shouldn't even exist.

Aim for the rear half of the tank when shooting at its side.

I don't find them that troublesome to deal with, but I've never played mine since the hull looked like it shouldn't be in WoT first time I saw it and I've been ignoring it ever since.

I don't expect alot from russian games, considering the major companies are in US,Canada and Japan.

But WoT isn't a russian game,it's just directed at russian market.

The Stalinium.

I have made a mistake of shooting Obj.257's side armor today. Twice.

Obviously it is balanced how a Russian tier 9 gets better side armor than the Maus, E100 or Type 5. Especially since a majority of it is an autobounce to most guns that aren't in tier 10 TDs.

The problem isn't that there's a place where you will actually pen it. The problem is that if accuracy RNG decides your shot doesn't go there, you don't pen this tank while you would've penned any other tank if you'd still hit it in the side, if you don't outright overshoot it. It's the simple problem of the smaller an area is, the harder it is to hit.
