The topic of my request is the feature of map-pinging.
Player can draw attention to the team to focus on one grid of the map.

Some people abuse this feature, "spamming" on the map.
As a side effect, the normal chat scrolls away and you only see the spamming player.
That is clearly a bug: A toxic player can destroy useful info through spam.

This request is about the feature, to make Pinging on the map completely unrelated to the chat.

When you are reworking this, it would be a nice feature to have options:
1. Show it in the chat and on the map (Standard - This is how it actually is)
2. Show it only on the map (Option)

3. Do not play a sound when pinging (Optional)
4. Do not show repetitive pings on one grid (Optional)

5. Give it a configureable timer that keep the ping longer visible before it fades out. (Timer in seconds)
6. While I am thinking about it, it could also be helpful to limit the pings for spectators. (0-3)

Edit: Typo1

I'd vote for that...

In fact, I would also vote to make the map squares smaller to make the pings more precise. Not quite the XVM drawing tool but closer to that

that or option to block the whole team with just 1 click would be nice also :hiding:

The performance of your computer can be a limiting factor.
Therfore it is often better to have features optional, for example as a mod.

In the example above we have "a timer that keep the ping longer visible before it fades out"
I could imagine a more precise spot in one grid that is "beating".

Unfortunately, I have often wished for that too.
But only because of the lack of the function to prevent the spam.
You know, communication is a most vital function…

We all know how the communication goes in the team chat

"We all know" is a generalism.
It's like to say, we all look at the minimap - both statements are not true.

You are a person who cares and you read what others have to say.
This request is a attempt to help you in that task in the future.

Hide the minimap

That'd be a nice idea. The only reason I pay attention to pings is to blacklist the person who's spamming because otherwise I can't see if anyone said anything actually informative. Spam has no function, it's just distracting from things that actually require my attention. I still do not get why people think pinging a map point where an ally is sitting either. People need to be informed about where unknown or unexpected enemies are, not where camping allies are that you can't do anything with anyway.

Alternatively just give people a 10-20 second map-ping cooldown, that way they can't spam and they actually have to spend their pings on important things that require actual attention.

Even if they implement only half of the suggestion, I would mute that Ping-sound and deactivate the scrolling of the chat. I could live with some flashing squares on the minimap.

I have a better idea.  Stop people being able to ping spam.

Limit it to 3 click total, 2 in one square, and IMO that's too much.

I like that idea but this request is about the separation from team-chat and pointing on the map. I just think it's enough to see it on the map exclusively.
A limitation only makes sense with very small numbers, if Wargaming set the limit to 20 pings per player nothing will be improved.

Hmm nope because I often use the chat to check back which squares were pinged, when I say often that is relative to the number of useful pings.

I think it would be a good idea, providing you can block the pings like we can do now on the chat.

Its not that hard to block it, but I don't think its vital to have the ping in the chat also.
