Ammo types and module damage

Hello!

We all know that the HE ans HESH rounds have a higher % to damage modules, but what about HEAT and APCR? On the mechanics these ammo types work, the HEAT should have a slightly more and APCR should have a slightly less chance to damage inner modules. How is this implemented in the game?

I'm pretty sure HE do not have a different chance to do module damage than AP, but because of the conical explosion depending on where the round hit, it can hit more modules at once, than an AP or APCR, or even HEAT round, that only hit modules that happen to be in their travel path.

It isn't, and in my opinion it's not really necessary, but in terms of balancing premium ammo, it could work maybe?

Yes and no. As HE has a cone made upon impact that can cover several modules that decides what will get damaged or not. AP and APCR it's more about the path after a pen, then splash. As take crews. They have a 33% chance on a hit with AP, APCR or HEAT to get taken out. But HE or HESH that fully pens, is only 10% pr crew. But if 4 crew members are inside the HE cone vs that one the AP shell hits. Well you get the idea. 

 

On modules is all down to what module you hit, not that much on what you hit it with. As it's a 100% on tracks regardless what you hit it with. And 27% chance to damage the ammo rack regardless if it's HE or AP you hit it with. But again, HE gets a cone depending on if they fully pen or not. So he can cover a wider area of modules. Thus it seems they can do more damage if you will. HEAT works the same as AP in module calculations. As HEAT has no splash. 

 

That and it's also down to the gun more so then the ammo. As the gun has a set value of module damage more so then the ammo type "not the same as alpha damage". Thus why some guns can take out tracks on less shots then others. As that takes 100% module damage pr hit regardless what hits it. Take the Maus. He has 300 track health. Kranvagn does 165 module damage pr hit. The TVP does 135 module damage pr hit. So he may need more to destroy the module. So even tho tracks take 100% damage each hit. Don't mean you will track it with one hit if you see.
