Looking for some suggestions for a good premium Chinese light tank.

Can you guys drop a comment or experience on the following options:

  1. Type 64
  2. M41D
  3. Type 62 (also a side question does this tank ever appear in the premium shop?)

All the info will help. :)

P.s- please comment on CHINESE LIGHTS only. I know that there might be better nations out there. I am specifically looking for Chinese line.

I have both the Type 64 and the Type 62 and they are both awesome tanks! Maybe the Type 62 is the better option as it has a perfectly fitting crew and generates more silver, but tier for tier the Type 64 is one of the best tanks in the game. It holds one additional crew member, so you could use this one too for training.

I never bought the M41D because of the bad MM, but I guess this has changed. Maybe someone else can advise you better with this tank.

Aha nice. About 62 when did you buy it? I have never seen it in the premium shop? How often is it on sale?

Type 62 is one of those which they drop in the shop when they have nothing else on.  Generally one of those 1 or 2 day things.

But I think you have them in the right order in your OP, Type 64 is the best though has the wrong crew layout.  M41D and Type 62 both have the correct crew for high tier Chinese lights, 4 man with loader doubling up as radioman.

I bought mine when it was tier VI and only the 2nd Chinese tank in the game.

Type 62 is the best there tier for tier.

dont know about m41d as I don’t have one yet, type 64 was pretty painful from what I remember, got it for free and still rage sold it

64 is pretty big for a t6 light, bad gun, horrid armour. Gets two shot a lot by anyone who is competent and has an 85mm

picked mine up in August 2015, type 62 that is

Aha, ok so Type 62 is not a rare thing. I never remember seeing it but then again I never really looked for light tanks before. Do you like yours? How good is it for passive or active scouting.
M41D I heard a lot of good things however its big for a light but capable.
What are your experiences with 62?

Yeah you are right on the money with 64 since the wot wiki says the same. Good but horrid gun and no armor (however in my humble experience/opinion is there any point in having armor on the light. If you rely on it in a light then you are definitely playing it wrong. Hahah. Right? But yes I see how 64 made you feel. Thanks for the input :)

Don't buy premium tanks. They may be fun for a few games and then... crap! Premium tanks are just another way for WG to squeeze money out of its players.

Do premium time and grind your tanks, it's more fun and it doesn't empty your visa card for nothing worth.

Have played 62 and own the 64 and as said it's quite big for a scout so trying to tuck in to certain bushes/locations can be an issue, very fast and great view range though, guns fast firing but quite bloomy I used GLD on mine before they allowed Vert Stabs, the extra radio man is a pain as he or she in my case gets the double xp if you are using the crew elswhere.  Other thing to note is the ammo count is a bit low so I've had games where i've run out I'm not as in love with it as when I bought it, but that can be said of many things in WoT.

I would consider buying the 62 if it came up, if only to complete my old plan of one crew in Wz132 Type62 Type64.  Scout changes and meds having much the same view ranges as lights higher up none get much play.

1. Type 64: is my least favourite Chinese premium tank, but its far from the worst. if you are looking for something solid in Tier 6 SH if you do Legionary business its a good choice.

2. M41D or MAID is i like to call it: is the best choice in my opinion. the over all performance is just better and it stays intact better than the others. MAID just feels right compared to the other options and again if you are interested in Legionary business MAID is a good scout there (depends who you ask)

3. Type 62: is a the good if you want a tank that feels like the Tech tree counter parts, its a good tank in its own right but suffers from poor module health so you need to buy equipment and train skills to keep your tank in 100% working order all the time. ammo rack and engine are usually knocked down, this is the same for WZ-131. everything breaks all the time and nothing works. :teethhappy:

so if you want the true Chinese experience the Type 62 is for you.

so to recap 1st place MAID, 2nd place Type 62, 3rd place Type 64.

oh and i got the Type 62 from the Christmas calendar. ( it was the 7th day if i recall correctly)

Well that settles it it’s between 62 and MAID (M41D).

what I mostly look for is a good passive scout. Mostly to do the LT missions (starting from Excalibur and so on).

My experience with light tanks is mostly from other side of the barrel when I am shooting them down in my heavy.

Also the low tier poorly trained lights that you have to drive at the beginning of the tech tree.

I know 62 can passive scout. M41D is a little bit too big for that? Also I know that MM is miles better now but maybe being tier 7 rather than 8 is better for me?

It's better than the same tier non premium, or so I'm told.  Personally I don't rate it for spotting or for active scouting, it was at it's best when people thought it was a Type 59 and would run away from you.

It's also a tier VII so it's no use for anything but random battles.

I have a rental for the M41D but don't have many battles in it, Cobra 6 highly rates it though which is a good enough endorsement for me.  And that's the one I would buy if I was buying one.  Being able to use it in FL could be reason enough.

The Type 64 was balanced under the old light system and so is a bit strong in today's mm if you ask me.

the size is about the same Type 62 being the smallest, MAID has a long turret so it is the ''biggest'' but not by much.

frankly i do active and passive scouting in all of them, choosing it on the fly and adapting to the situation at hand.

armour on a light is good tbh, even if its not much it protects against HE pens, type 62 gets penned rarely by HE compared to 64, even if its armour is still bad

Yeah I guess the fact that m41d is tier 8 is an advantage if you play frontlines. Sadly as I learned, my pc is too weak to play FL. So my choice is not tied right now to if the tank is usable in frontlines. But I understand your motivation.

i would like to use the tank to complete the LT missions for all the reward tanks. I don't feel like grinding 9 years along a tech tree until I get a decent light to use for the campaigns and personal missions. I dont know what is asked from LT missions but I suspect its tied a lot to assistances and spotting. No?

Again, tier VIII has a bigger health pool to farm through spotting or damage which should make the missions with higher requirements easier.   Type 64 could be better for the sneaky cap missions and spot without being spotted.

Also M41D is on sale today, you will have to wait for the Type 62 to randomly appear.

Type 64 can as QB said be Godlike at tier 6

I have had some fantastic games in it but given my ability I have also had average games too.

Type 62 is very similar to the WZ131 again its a very capable tank I won mine in an event years ago.

The new kid on the block the 41D is very similar to the current Bulldog only its Chinese.

Its got the best penetration and great shell velocity.

Got to be the one to get I would think, I certainly would if I didn't already have the others.

Got a 15% off anything coupon though and I am wavering ;)

Not sure what its camo rating is that could be an important factor.

I will mate I will. Promise. Its just that I get periods of not knowing what to do with myself. Job seeking these days takes toll on you both spiritually and physically. :)

There are days when I feel like playing 12hrs wot. And other times when I dont feel like getting out of the bed.

Anyways thank you all guys for such detailed and quick responses.

I dont care what people say. Gaming communities might be toxic but we at least want to help each other (most of the time).

Most likely gonna buy that Type 62. I guess that M41D is a better light overall if we look at mobility and gun and gun handling. However its too big and cammo is the worst of all. I need a passive scout. I dont need/know how to be up close and personal in a light and to live thru it. I get enough excitement up close playing HT Russians.
So I guess I will wait for Type 62.
