Waited for countdown, saw the type 59, hesitated for 3 seconds, pressed buy, technical error, tried entering the black market 3 more times, "we will restock soon", restarted game, sold out.

10/10

I got an error as well, but managed to get back into store and watch them go in less than 3 mins... wasn't planning on using 25k gold on that!

Also, get ready to see more deals for gold purchase. WG played smart (3rd offer from the start), now players buy gold if similar offer pops up.

Not a scam for me, I finally had something to spend my loot box gold on. It looks nice in my garage next to my normal Type 59

I wonder how many people went to purchase large amounts of gold only to find that the tank is sold out :D
Brilliantly business tactic wargaming, probably didn't piss anyone off :coin:

I am with those that say that NOBODY forces ANYONE to pay ANYTHING for this game.

I have spent relatively little over the (nearly) seven years that I have played, but I consider it to be pretty good value for money. I don't even mind so much when I have been lured in, because I still made a CHOICE.

One of the more recent nice little scams (and I use that term tongue-in-cheek) is the business of mission tokens. NO, I will not buy a tier VIII Premium tank for £40. Ah, but I will play like a trained chimp for two weeks and then, when I only need to spend £10 to buy tokens for the missions I have not completed, I will.

Brilliant business management. They must be wetting themselves laughing in WG HQ. But I don't mind, because I made a choice to do that. In actually fact, I only bought ONE token for the T25 Pilot after failing to complete all of the missions. Most of the other marathons that have come along recently I have just played as usual and taken a few rewards along the way.

The last time I CHOSE to pay was Christmas, for loot boxes. I spent more than I should have done, but that was MY CHOICE, and I actually did quite well for WoT value, between the Gold, Premium time, two Premium tier Vs and the Skorpion G, I think I basically got the Skorpion for nothing.

I am also happy to spend on WoT because it is the only PC game I tend to play. WG are a business. They have a pretty good game, which I (mostly) enjoy playing even with the downsides and frustrations, and I am paying my way at a level that I am happy to do.

Sorry for the long-winded post (nothing new there) but I just felt that it needed to be said.

Now the shop's back up, I could find out how much money 25,000 gold is worth: £71.36.

Wow.

£71.36 x 1,000 = £71,3600

And it's only day two, I wonder what else will be coming...

See you online at 5am to find out.

Ark'

I agree on everything you say. Everyone have a choice (even though wg is well knowingly abusing the fact that many people are impulse buyers, especially when something is flashy and limited). I was mostly expecting a crap-storm from disappointed customers that didn't get the tank they bought 25 000 gold for. However, people seem to recognize and applaud wg for their business strategies this time around, and I agree with them. I never had the intention of buying this as i don't even find it good looking. But as you said, I chose to buy loot boxes at christmas, and i got the regular type 59. This G-version doesn't make me want another.

Get ready for the sh*t storm.  What was that film gone in 60 seconds?!!

As with the 2 posters above you really have to look beyond the headlines, dance little circus rats the pied piper is playing, some people would have bought gold for this, most people will be out at work still...

Work? Maybe in London time, but not in German/Finland time, and most certainly not in Sweden time.

This game is like a microcosm of how people act in life when there's snowy weather or a bank holiday and the food shelves empty out all scrabling for themselves loading up with more than they need to the detriment of their fellow men.

People buying one who already own a Type 59 are of course fully entitled to do so but maybe think bigger picture and let another player share that experience of playing with the Type59 seeing as these things have been in demand for 8+ years?

To pre-empt the "your just peeved because you missed out" responses, I wouldn't have bought one as I don't have 25k gold (my balance is 6k) nor did I buy any gold for this.

Loot boxes?

Oh right, I forgot about those, I guess people that bought a lot of these have a huge amount of gold on stand by.

So I had 15000 gold on my account, I pressed the buy Type Gold 59, it went to another screen to do the transaction for the 10000 extra gold required. Next screen was thank you for your purchase and the gold 59 in my garage.

so they accounted for the lack of gold if you did not have enough.

I had some gold from Christmas, plus 12.5k from Vampire airplane compensation ( they gave event twice for it ) plus a lot more from various events in wowp , so it was more or less quite free for me. Though i dont get this fuss about type. It's not what it used to be in the first years of WoT, there are more better tier 8 tanks than type. I got it just because im collectionaire and i had 40k gold lying around.
