I highly recommend anyone not entirely familiar with the concealment system in WoT to watch these videos provided by World of Tanks North America carefully.

The second part shows advanced tactics.

You're welcome.

That's it, with one post PPP has solved all the issues WoT has with people complaining about invisible tanks, camo cheats and wall hacks! Press 'F' for pointless forum spamming from people who don't make the smallest effort to learn the mechanics of the game for that day has passed as we move forward to a golden future. :honoring:

I familiarised myself with the game's mechanics including those regarding concealment many years ago, and I still do not trust certain bushes in the slightest.

Yeahhhh.

This is from the North American server. You know what those guys are like :child:

All jokes aside, it's a pretty good video. Thanks for sharing.

This is all nice and stuff but there is one major oversight by OP. People who frequent the forums are generally already informed enough about the game, while people who don't really engage with community on that level are uninformed, hence they will miss that guide and still occasionally come to the forum to make an angry venting thread. Or put in other words - WoT's worst players don't read forums.

The bushes are broken. Some of them provide immense amount of camo while others, similar on surface, don't provide it at all.

I suggest you follow the guidance provided by a previous poster ...

Knowing which bushes can be trusted is as much of a learning curve as knowing how bush mechanics work. I know that doesn't deal in the absolutes of "it's a bush therefore it acts like this" but it's a much better way of approaching the game. Not all tanks are created equal, why should all bushes be treated that way?

I know the bush mechanics, thank you. It doesn't change a fact, that some bushes work and others don't. And if you have to know, which bushes on which map work and which don't, it's no longer a mechanic.

Edit: I hope I don't come across as rude. It's not my intention.

I am deeply disappointed, the first step you take in your rehabilitation after years of being a pastry is going to the americans. What's next, F-22s??? :(

You're approaching it as, "this is a bush, it will act exactly the same way as any other bush" when the game is telling you, "different bushes behave differently". It's still a mechanic, it's not a straightforward rote mechanic.

One of the things I was told early on was to be wary of flowering bushes, they're not the same as plain bushes. You're expecting bushes to behave like brick walls - if all bushes were supposed to act the same way, why don't they all look the same?

There are bushes that look exactly the same (or almost exactly the same) which do not provide the same camo. I know they said that different bushes provide different amounts of camo, but I'm talking about bushes that look the same. You might be right, that they are simply very similar and so people think they are the same, while in reality, they are completely different. Then I would change my stance on the bush mechanic, from being broken to being poorly implemented with a disregard for human perception. The game should behave in a predictable manner. Right now, if I put you in a same tank on a map you don't know, you will have a lot of problems judging which bushes will provide you with a good camo, and which won't. This is not very good for the game and makes the bush mechanic seem broken. And I will repeat myself, but just to be clear. I know not all bushes provide the same level of camo, but I took an effort after they said the bushes are not the same and tried to use common sense as to which bushes will give me camo and which will not. And after few fails I decided the only way is a try and error method. Most bushes behave ok, but there are some which feel broken.

When an FV4005 with no equipment and a 50% crew still outspots a fully pimped out for view range and camo bat chat, just because its is behind a bush, the bushes are broken, regardless of whether they are working as intended.

I mean the Fv4005 itself works as intented, but its still broken.

Perhaps the driver should be able to earn a Botany perk, so that he will know the exact camo rating of a bush.

Some bushes are just fake and dont work at all since 1.0.

I have to say that WG has great humor sometimes. "A bush, a small bush, a very small bush" :D

Me personally understand the spotting mechanics, if I ever complain about it, it's because the system is sometimes a bit illogical. For example, in real life, the density of a bush determines if we can see through it or not. If we can't see through it, it doesn't matter if we're 100 meters away or 500 meters away, we still can't see through it. And that's where the WoT spotting system fails. A tank can simply drive closer to a bush and suddenly be able to spot what's behind it. Another example is how a spotter can't spot a tank behind a bush, but a tank sitting on the other side of the bush can see and aim for the target. I know it's just a game but things like that make the game illogical.

EDIT:

Another issue that has been overseen by some posters in this thread is that some complaints about the spotting system is not neccessarily due to not understanding how the system works, but due to bugs. Some bushes might be bugged and not provide the expected concealment bonus, while some areas without bushes might be bugged and provide an unexpected concealment bonus.

The only flaw in this, some bushes are fake and seems like they doesn't work. Or at least they give only few % of camo.

This kind of vids should be mandatory for all new players. I wasnt aware about any mechanics up to 5000 first battles.

An example being those basically weeds in the middle of Live Oaks that seem to allow tanks to fire unspotted even at close ranges, think there is a vid of a T-100lt using them and doing massive damage, never getting spotted.
