I have always liked the challenge of ranked battles, playing against players with equal skill level and the different gameplay in general. I have ended up in silver league all seasons, the last one took around 60-70 battles after starting late in the season.

How many battles did it take you to get out of qualification this season? I'm currently at rank 14 after 117 battles, not that great. I will finish this division and not try to go any further.

Half way into the season there are 604 players in the leagues after finishing all 4 divisions. How many will reach the top when the season is over, less than ever before? Also, I wonder how many battles some of the players in that list played since they have a lower chevron efficiency than I currently have.

Once you get out of the qualification division progress is a lot faster because of the double boosters, you can get up 5 x2 chevron battles with 5 different tier 10s, so this means if you get 1 chevron, it becomes 2 and if you get, it becomes 4, so a couple of decent games with those boosters and you can like 12+ chevrons from 5 games.

To be honest every new mode after some time is changed by WG into grindfest. They lack ideas for end-game content so they try to artifically extend all game modes. Worse is that they are to stubborn to understand that such policy cause that players are bored and leave game.

How else is ranked supposed to work, besides playing a lot of games? Seems to me there is no other option.

It's easier if you start late

I think that you should progress to around your skill level fairly fast. After that progress should be slower so that you cannot grind your way to the top.

I realize that you get more chevrons due to bonus battles later on. However, competition should also be more firece at the higher divisions, which will lower your chevron efficiency at the same. I don't know if this is the case this season because it's not uncommon to be frequently matched against players 1-2 divisions higher.

Yes

1st division rank 5, after 171 games. But I still have 5 x2 battles.

WG is turning everyhing into grindfest. Marathons, Frontlines (puke), and now Ranked Battles. It's all about tedious grind.

Ranked has always been a grind, just in the previous seasons skill had more impact on progression speed and the overall amount to grind was lower. The whole division and bonus battles stuff is basically just there to distract from the massively increased amount of chevrons/ranks to grind.

And the one good change in this season (assigning league based on efficiency instead of absolute rank) was completely vaporized by making the leagues mostly irrelevant.

From what I've played the EBR rally cars seem to be a nice lazy way of bagging chevrons without that grindy feeling "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ 2k spoting" nice start.... "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ now 4k spotting" lovely... "BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ 5k spotting" and we are good for 2 chevys, gg NEXT!

That and those huge hitting TD's FV4005 and to a Lessor extend the JT E100 "Boooooooom 1k dmg" lovely.... "Boooooom 2.5k dmg" and given our TD roll xp boost we are good for at least 1 chevron from 2 - 3 shots. Meanwhile me and my cheese wedge is still bumbling around on 2-3 shots of dmg.
