Hi all,

Should I buy the IS-6B if it comes up for sale in the Black Market? I'll only buy it for credits, not gold.

I want a crew trainer for t10, 277, IS-7 and 260, when I eventually get it. I don't have any other T8 russian heavy premiums. I have the Russian IS-2 which did really badly in the old MM. I haven't played it since the MM changes.

I've got two supplementary questions

Has the IS-6 been horribly power crept and is it uncompetitive vs most current t8 heavy premiums OR have the armour buffs it had last year, along with the more even MM and its special MM made it worthwhile.

I mainly play lights and meds and am rubbish and get really bored playing slow heavies. Is the IS-6 good enough that I'll be cope with playing it?

thanks

Geoff

Well, why not buy it. if it is for credits?

I know I will regardless of what others say about the IS-6....what else should I spend my millions of credits on?.......premium ammo?(actually the reason I have millions is because I don't use a lot of premium ammo.)

Buy it!

In  the current META no, IS-6 was known as a tier VII and VI bully, because it sucked against other tier VIIIs, in  the MM we get most of your games will be same tier, with very rare cases of a top tier 3/5/7 or at least 5/10 spread, the tank still can't handle tier VIIIs and IXs well, especially the newer ones, so I'd say it's not worth right now. I haven't touched mine for ages. Still if you are some kind of collector, just go for it. In the end it comes down to your own preference, and the money are yours, use them as you wish.

after the buff the gun handling of the is6 is definitely improved .. pity that the penetration still remains a huge defect and a lack without logic in this vehicle .. often you will have to use the ACPR and it is not always said that these are successful ..RNG allowing ..

the armor is discreet .. nothing exceptional ... a few years ago it was an OP tank to death .. today it is nothing of that and also it is nothing exceptional against tier 9 tanks

if you have credits to spend without problems take it..is still a premium to put in the collection

I own the is6 normal..probably I'm crazy..but if I can, I'll take it .. obviously the foch 155 takes precedence for me

If you want to train crews, remember, the lower tier premiums train the crew faster.

The MM changes are good, give your IS-2 another spin.

IS6 (which I own) nowadays tends to get all tier VIII line ups and thus is not nearly as useful and good as a crew trainer as it was when it saw more tier VI and VIII.

IS Berlin is a good tier VII and trains crews well (yes I own one).

The best USSR crew trainer is of course Churchill III.

Object 252U/Defender is also good.

My IS-6 is parked in my garage, just gathering dust for quite some time now. Even after the "buffs", the tank is still feeling outmatched 90% of the battles it sees. Specially considering the majority of full Tier 8 ones. Good luck versus VK 100,01 P, Mauerbracher and Defenders. It's armor is lackluster, gun is mediocre at best and the tank is blind as a bat.
Crew trainer ? Go for something lower tier or a Defender. I would honestly much rather drive my KV-220-2 or Churchill III, than the IS-6. Black or not - it's a "meh" tank in current meta. It needs Pref MM -2/+0 and even then it's going to struggle in full Tier 8 games.

For crew training xp the Churchill III is indeed probably the best, but it does need a radio operator, so a lot of xp goes to the radio operator if you need to train that fresh. Defender is probably the best, since the pen on the gun is good and dealing damage is the most important part of a tank to get xp.

Could you elaborate? How do lower tier premiums trait crews faster if they earn less experience? Some extra boost?

They receive progressively less bonus xp as you go up the tiers, (tier 2 +70% bonus - tier 3 60% - tier 4 50% - tier 5 40% - tier 6 30% - tier 7 20% - tier 8 +10% bonus)

Mind, this is raw experience, which, with accelerated crew training enabled, effectively earns more xp which is sent to the crew.

Nope, save your credits. You'll be some time trying to make back what you lost from buying it.

It's a really really nice tank but the meta has nerfed it

I still take it out because it's a nice tank to use

But it's very situational because it lacks mobility and gun power and the armour  is iffy

Nothing excels so you can't use it to leverage a battle situation

The IS6 is the nice guy who gets beaten up because he's just not good enough

He's up for it

But he's rubbish

I would had bought one as well for credits. But this one is for gold, so no IS-6's for us.

given the normal IS6 price, I believe that anyone who wants this tank should definitely buy is6b..8k gold is a really good price

8k gold is the lowest amount you'll ever have to spend to get an IS-6b, it's even a few hundred less than the regular IS-6 when it's on 30% discount.

So if you've ever considered buying an IS-6 for gold, this would be the moment to really consider it again.

However it remains an IS-6 in the present meta and MM, so buyer beware.

Well, I bought it even though I first thought I wouldn't.

First impressions after 4 games:

- A bit more sluggish than I thought

- Gun is actually surprisingly reasonable for an experienced player

- Sure is better than my former trainer, KV-122, lol.

btw, out of the 4 games only one was all tier8, two were 7-8 and one was 8-6, so lucky me!

Sure it's cheap as far as tier 8 prem HT's goes. But it seems to sell worse then the Alpine Tiger atm. As that was also cheaper vs the 112 in the tech tree.

Gun is not bad when you face -2 and -1 targets, as then everything works. But the second you get that +0 game and get a VK 100.01, Patriot or a Defender in your face. You need that 217 gold pen to 20%+ high roll often. As 186 AP pen is not gonna get you far vs that lower plate and cupola on the VK etc. Sure you can still got the med lane to have fun. But that's not a good spot on most maps like Westfield.

It's honestly why I hardly play my IS-6 anymore after the MM changes. 8K gold is still too much for a tank with less pen then even the T26E4 that had his 3 pen buff's reasoned as "he needs it when he takes over the HT role late game". Normally because he needs to take over for the IS-6 that died.

217 gold pen is still atrocious and useless against plenty of armor and turrets it faces. I take it the tank is still a pref MM tank with those levels of pen values? Still, like most pref MM tanks, I'd rather play a tank that see's +2 tiers and actually has a good gun instead of a pref MM tank limited to just +1 tier but in fact has a gun that would insult a same tier battle let alone a +1 battle. I wouldn't frustrate myself with a tank like that.
