Block Quote
The two main zones, the urban part and the open area, weren’t well connected to each other. There was no clear front line on the map, so your adversaries could turn up in the most unexpected locations, and surprise you with a devastating shot
But that was the most fun point of the map! Why does every *** map in world of tanks need such a distinct and clear front line? The fact that a map is dynamic and living is much more fun than having a predictable engagement in every battle. It gives opportunities to flank.
No wonder WoT developers suck in making decent maps...

Seriously now, what was wrong with the old Kharkov?
The so called ditch is there ,in my opinion, mainly to protect "Steve" from getting flanked by lights or fast mediums.
The TD positions are so obvious that any SPG player with half a brain cell functioning would blind fire the living crap out of this place!
Lets hope the heavies will have a nice time on this map as with all the other "new" maps, i don't thing they will make an open map any time soon as "Steve" has payed 40 euros
for his defender and the light tank peasants only pay 25 for the premium light tanks!

You saw it as fun - yes, but I reckon many, many people saw it differently, and that's why it got changed. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to play on new Kharkov. ![]()

And i'm looking forward for the creation of an open map where you can have a decent game in your light tank, and by light i mean the real light tanks, not those 1996 driving game physics engine yolo wagons WG added recently!

And many people saw it the same way. That's why so many players are longing to get the 'old maps' back, such as Port, Pearl River, South Coast, etc. Because those maps were tactically simply better maps, offering all kind of flanking opportunities. That's why Frontline is so popular.
Please consider putting more 'tactically challenging' maps into world of tanks with, if needed to keep Steve the heavy driver happy, a toggle in the settings, just like grand battles.
