Are maps now to small for the faster more skilled game?

Putting it out there. With all the new advent vehicles, more skilled arty and generally faster gameplay, are the maps now too small and predictable? Should they be increased in area? I’d be interested to hear the thoughts out there

 

if enlarging the maps aren’t the answer, what is?

A good start would be to add some fresh maps into the rotation, particularly when they have them ready made in the form of the maps which are unique to consoles at present - Ardennes being the first to spring to mind.

All maps being 1000x1000m would be better. Ensk sucks, Mines sucks, Himmelsdorf sucks, Paris is 800x800m, right? It sucks too. They thought Kharkov sucked so they enlarged it to 1000x1000m for the upcoming patch.

15v15 on a Grand Battle-sized map would be...campy.

The current setup is quick-fix tanks and rather addictive

 

I found grand-battles a bit too slow, and with no respawn I lost interest

 

Frontline works because you can respawn with another tank

there are some maps missing. El Alamein for starters, The best map available for consoles.

but i do agree some of the console maps should be added to the PC version. El Alamein is a must have.

Bigger maps would be good one limiting factor are the ultra slow tanks bigger maps would mean they simply could do very little,

well to be honest in fast games, i cant do much with T95 even with maps that we have now, if they were 50% larger, wouldn't make much difference for slow vehicles, because they cant get anywhere in time even on smallest of maps.

Making maps bigger would make Sloooow moving 20km per hour tanks even more annoying to play,

risking them to become obsolete.

 

While the solution is right in front of our noses.

Decrease the speed of the fastest vehicles in the game.

yes make light tanks go 20kph and T95 2kph, thats brilliant.

Light tanks should be fast, that's their highlight as a reconaissance unit. What needs to slow down are some mediums and heavies.

 

To fight the problem of slow tanks, simply extend the battle time appropriately, or reduce reload speed on certain tanks. I wouldn't mind 20-minute battles.

Here’s my thoughts on maps: WG must make a ton of money from selling premium accounts, vehicles etc etc. I think they can afford to pay a bunch of nerds who would totally love to spend their lives designing, creating and testing a new map every week. Or maybe it’s rocket science and creating new maps is as hard as String Theory so we have to play Mines or Province or Paris or any other map really until the End of Times? 

And yes, small maps is a laughable thing considering that so many vehicles are now extremely fast and game dynamics evolved a lot lately. It’s frequent nowadays that a game is over in a matter of minutes.

I want bigger maps to redress the problem created when they made SPGs up to tier 10.

Being able to sit in one corner and potentially fire into the opposite corner is a problem.

Maps big enough so SPGs have to move,.

For me its bigger maps or a big accuracy nerf for SPGs at long range

At low tiers small maps are not bad. Tanks view range is small. Tanks have some "private" space to move around.

At the highest tier some tanks have even 400+ view range. Everyone spots everyone from the end of the map. (Unless some building or bush, etc. in the way.) Obviously we need some bigger maps.

 

ps.: at low tier even radio range is low. I remember a low tier game, when I had no radio contact with half of my team. I did not know excatly what they are doing. And that was exciting!

WoT maps originally have been designed to max tier 8 tanks and their view ranges.

 

And it shows.

Also maps are getting bigger globaly. Check karkhov rework. Also check fl wich is going to get a new map.

Your wishes are already something wg is doing
