The Leopard 1 weighs 40 tons (in the game not IRL) and it's powered by a 830 hp (again in the game not IRL) so the specific power is 20.75 hp/ton. Why is the weight listed at 39.65 tons on wotinspector, i have no idea!

The difference between 20.93 and 20.75 is negligible as fully equipping the tank reduces the specific power from 20.75 to 20.52. That's just the weight of the equipment.

Out of trials it was already overweight by 10 tons from the original 30 tons requirement.

It was never that quick a medium because the ground resistances are not great, especially compared to a lot of tier 10 meds.

Plus in general with the game, hp/ton power creep it real, back in the day like 25 hp/ton was really special, now loads of tanks have way more than that and we have heavies with nearly 20hp/ton.

All the tier 10 lights, the STB-1, the TVP, the Bat Chat, Grille 15 and T-22 med all have higher hp/ton that the Leo 1.

Whilst the likes of the M60, Cent AX, and Progetto 65 have similar ish hp/ton but better ground resistances.

Just for the record, I'm loving the tank regardless.

Just don't get shot. I had a 5.6k ace tanker game on Ensk, out of all maps today. I wanna thank my team for providing a good few meters of spaced armor for me and the enemy team for letting me farm them whilst they were shooting greens.

Saying that a tank is a "support" tank is like saying one guy is "nice".

The tank is so bad it can't win games, just add some spare damage to the team and hope the rest do their job. But you can't do anything. Bad camo, bad mobility for a piece of wet paper.

And yeah, good gun, but so does have the E50M and it has a lot more of armor and more survivability.

Do you want a proper sniper medium? pick the E50M. You have a laser for a gun and a mid range reliable armor.

I guessed it would be. Been playing it a lot. And the changes they made "fixed" nothing.

Here my stats post rebalance: 90 games played: 39 wins 51 lost. -60 avg dmg -7% winrate

(one thing worth mentioning is I play it maxed - Food/prem equip/directives -> reload 6.8s)

The main problem pre-patch Leo had was survivability. Its the most paper med there is on tier 10, and regularly you see battles where your MM'd against Obj430U and the likes.

And they actually made survivability worse. Slower reverse, slower turning and -100 hitpoints. (I bet this change will actually lower the Leo 1 overall winrate server-wide)

Contrary to what people write. Leo 1 had an excellent 390 dmg sniping gun. With 330 heat that would allow rolling with heavies and pen weakspots at close.

So any change to the gun was going to be irrelevant.

What Leo 1 needed was a major buff to DPM - but it only receveived peanuts. While the long reload of 7.6s makes killing stuff even more awkward than it was before.

+10mm to standard pen apcr is just totally irrelevant - but hey, now people can argue "the gun was buffed". Strv treatment would've made a relevant change (300+ standard pen for 105mm gun)

But clearly making it relevant or competive vs its peers wasnt part of the plan. Thus Leo 1 should never be matched vs any other TX med than it self or an LT.

_________________

Rant about the accuracy: many times i see fully aimed shot just missing completely, and heavy tanks just snap 440m+ shots with ease and 100% guaranteed pen. I swear the previous gun was more accurate.

Playing Leopard PTA just confirms Russian medium tank superiority. German paper mediums get rekt by HE from arty and wheelie boys so hard, it's not even funny. And almost every game has three arties.

Sure, tanks like Obj430 and 430U have poorer guns, but they only need to hit German meds anywhere to pen. German meds get even overmatched by many tier 9-10 guns from the side.

Why would anyone play these tanks over Russian meds, seriously.

Even M48 Patton is miles above because it has actually armor.

Don't get shot, both it and the PTA are massively better IMO.

It's never going to be an easy tank to play, but it rewards good play well IMO.
