After about 3 skills you get diminishing returns on perks so whilst the little extra is nice and it's a convenient credit sink for WG it's not going to imbalance anything.

agreed, just blew 30 mil. to raise a crew from 84% (6 skill) to 15% (7 skill).

useful for new crews basically, not for already trained crews

Holy sh!t.  I presume your player name is actually Thoffen !!

15 of those level III books could have trained 15 new crews to a pretty decent level.

without having to sell any tank or consumable still enough to buy 3 tier X tanks, sitting on 250+ automatic fire extinguishers, large repair kits and large first aid kits, plenty of food even for nations I don't play.

there comes a point where you just don't need the credits other then resupply and repairs

IF you earn 1000 XP per battles, then 250,000 XP would take 250 battles.

IF you (only) earned 8,000 silver per battle, then 2,000,000 silver would take 250 battles.

I suspect most players earn more like 700 XP per battle (more with PR boosters) but could earn 2M silver in a few hours playing premiums with PR boosters, SHs or FLs.

So if you want to grind a new crew (250XP will get you most of the way to the first perk), then grinding 2M credits is a MUCH faster way to do it than grinding the crew.

The binary, exponential XP needed for crew training makes it extremely difficult to get past 3 skills (yes, I know you have a crew with 5+ skills ... I have about 80 crews with 3 skills, 20 with 4, 1 or 2 with 5 and 1 with 6 and that's female so it's really only a 4 skiller ... and actually, my other 5 skillers are ALL either female of Berlin crews !!)

It takes something like (roughly)  :-

# of skills XP for that skill Total XP
0 (100% major qualification) 100k 100k
1 200k 300k
2 400k 700k
3 800k 1.5M
4 1.6M 3M

and another 3M for the 5th, etc.

So if 3rd takes 6 months, 4th a year, 5th 2 years, etc.

You can also use this little calculator and play around a little to figure out how your specific crews will benefit from the different types of crew books: PlanetWoT Crew Skill Calculator

250k exp shared amongst the crew, the book gives 250k per crew member. as for skills, my 7 skill borsig crew (working on the 7th now so basically 6+ skilled crew) it took me 7180 games shared in the borsig, E25 and WT Steyr. not using pr boosters regularly because I forget to activate them

Mine are 63% on their 6th skill and have 3959 battles. This was my first crew from where I started the game and is still the best one. Altough those female and 0skill crews are closing in fast and wit so much less battles.

Full female Obj. 140 crew. 51% working on also 6th skill after only 1207 battles.

If anything it will balance low tiers a bit more, even via merit books. As everyone having 1 or 2 skills is not the worst thing either tbh.

Considering how many battles in a mid-tier or low prem it takes to get a crew up to 100% on the first skill. I'm def using those without complaint on a fresh crew where crew training is lacking atm. As in no high tier trainers if I need a new crew going for a tier 9 etc.

I got one yesterday from Rewards for merit box.

I don't think it was 5th either, but 4th or something.

arent they only for the events/specials to be won. And the largest only to be bought for 2m credits. Think I read that somewhere.

small ones we get for free

medium for events and specials

large to be bought

In patch notes is say that some of Crew Books could come as Reward for Merit.

Did anybody got any today and which one?

Of course, I don't count small ones for each nation that everybody should get with patch but only ones rewarded as Merit.

I can not play till late this evening but wonder if there is any "drop rate" of those books through Merit rewards....

I finally received a Training Manual (100,000 XP per crew member) today in the fifth reward.................for Japan, a Tech Tree that does not interest me.........yaaaaaay!

I like crew books even if they've made crew skills easy to advance now.

Just WG's way of helping noob players and getting veteran players to grind new lines.

I was playing in the SU 100M1 last night and received a Soviet crew training booklet and tool box + blue print for LTG and 3x directives after a battle I guess I did well in, and that was a pretty damn cool reward. Only one so far, so... will hope for more and wait to see how often they come. Could be very rare drops.
