Hello :)

i just had a good game in my JT.88.

its been in my garage gathering dust for quite sometime and i was just about to trade it in for another tank.

but i wanted to give it a 3 games as a last chance to proof if its worth keeping and it really is a good tank.

Large HP pool, Good Armor, Great DPM, Fire Rate and Penetration.

the 2 things i most like about the Tank is the 4,4 sec reload and good accuracy to keep enemies perma tracked and eat away their HP while they cant do anything about it.

I dont think there is any other tank that has nearly as good DPM and fire rate as the JT.88 at tier 8, Ferdinand might be but i cant Trade my JT.88 for it.

So... Is there a tank at tier 8 that can match the DPM/ROF of the JT.88? (gotta love that perma track) and what tank would you trade JT.88 for or would you trade it at all?

I find it really weird when someone says "change my mind". It's your property and your game, why would i be interested in changing your mind if you chose to play a certain tank?

You bought it, you played it and you elected to keep it. I say good on you, keep going! :)

Now, I loathe tanks with no turrets. I don't see myself enjoying JT88 any more than I enjoy the tier9 version, which I really, really, really loathe.

People have their own things. There's regularly posts about tanks people like and that's one of the cool parts of this game: It's not World of mobile high alpha tanks with good gunhandling. Some of the diehard forumites play mainly TD's, some play lights, I think there was someone who had played half of his games in KV-4 out of all things. And arty players, god bless their souls!

So, what ever floats your boat man and I hope it's never my tracks getting smacked, but rather your JT88 double tracked from full hp. With a stock tank. With reserves on. On a 5x day. Pls.

Shame it's slow, got awful traverse, no armour and crap alpha...

But yeah apart from that it's the bee's knees

Sure, it's good. Maybe even OP in certain situation. But it's still kinda "outdated" and kinda not fun to play (same as most turretless TDs these days tbh).

I can see that it can appeal to some people. Same as tier 9 Tortoise - it butchers tomato players who are stupid enough to sit in front of you.

i made a meme which pretty much sums up every single game i have ever played ever in the history of ever in my Jagdtiger8,8. (tbf its been rusting in my garage for years now, I should probably give it a whirl again but... eh.. It just gets absolutely molested by artillery. I hate arty enough without intentionally making myself a target by playing things like this, haha.)

So has the TogII?

I've never thought," oh noes, they have a Jagdtiger, whatever will I do now?"

It's big, easily penned and often the first thing spotted.

Which is a shame, because Germany made the most interesting tanks, but in a Russian designed game they all seem to suck for some totally unknown reason....

Interesting meme considering that the Jagd 88 can't ever meet the T92 under normal circumstances :teethhappy:

The only time I remember the JT88 being good is when you could use it to get craploads of gold from the Kinguin packages. :)

It has never been really good and since the day they changed the physics so every TD's back is always slipping to the side as soon as you stop moving, it's just one of those TDs not worth the time to take it into battle.

But once I had one good game in this thing too. I think. Dunno.

Traded mine for a Super Pershing a while back and even though the Super Pershing ain't superb in the tier 9 MM it seem to get all the time it's at least a tank I enjoy playing, something that the JT88 haven't been for a long, long time. You had a nice game in it for sure, but I'll be surprised if you can do that in that tank consistently, but then again you seem to love every tank that every else thinks is weak or crap so you might pull that off.

I think it's an okay tank except from the very low premium pen of 237mm, making it almost completely hopeless against targets with actual armour (Defender etc).

Standard pen 212 is okay for this being pref mm, but a buff of the premium ammo to 261 like the panther II would make it a lot more comfortable on same tier and higher battles. :)

I'd say probably since the buffs and the changes to the MM, the limited tanks in general are doing better and the Jt88 is probably ok, but of course as a non-turreted slow TD, its not everyones cup of tea.

It has the joint second highest DPM of any tank, for some reason the much more armoured TS-5 with its 120mm has the same DPM, which kind of leaves the Jt88 looking a bit pointless aside the limited MM.

Looking at the WR curve, its doing ok, its about on the reference line, a little below in places, so will probably need some minor buffs again, but its certainly not a bad tank, just an average one that is quite situational.

AT-15 is probably the only one that gets close. 4.2 sec reload, but 10 less alpha. So the 88 beats it by 77 DPM. Same power to weight more or less, but slower traverse. TS-5 has a 7 sec reload. An the same DPM as the AT-15.. So still less then the 88.

And tbh.. I like the AT-15. I never played the 88. And as my 2nd recruit is close to being done with the 3rd stage. I'm considering the 88. I went for the T92 for the first one.

Its a tank thats only good vs poor players though. As soon as you meet someone with any common sense ( I do acknowledge there can be many games in a row where that doesn't happen ) your screwed. If ever I face one, I just drive off, it can't catch me so.... I fight it on my terms not on its terms. it's very situational.

it being a "good" tank in your eyes is more symbolic of the level of players you are facing imo. It's got a hell of a lot of weaknesses ( slow, no side armour, low alpha, no turret ) if you compare it against an actual good t8 tank ( t44, prog, skorp, Lowe ).

It's one of the many tonks that suffer MM the most, and pref MM is still a joke.

With the latest buffs it become """ok""", but since nowaday there are more tier 9 tanks in the tier 8 rooster than tier 9 at tier 9...
When top tier is "absolute havoc", but that "when" is extremely rare.

The fear of permatraking in the enemy periscopes is still real :)

Anyway, don't buy.

I guess if you find players that won't shoot "special ammo", the Jg8.8 armor can work.

Personally I think the whole tank is a slowly moving box of hitpoints.

It is now much better after they buffed the gun and mobility, and mm got improved. Almost a bit surprising how much better the gun is now with so little added.pen. Nobody used to care of it's old 88, had rather nonexistant scare factor. Now ppl think before they go in front of it. Makes money too.

This being said... it is still a support vehicle, a mobile pillbox if you will, and can't really carry games or survive long alone. The cars don't make this any easier.

But its now fun to play and I take some games with it every now and then. Wouldn't use it to train fresh crews though.
