Buffed Indien seems a bit expensive to run

I really like the buffed Indien Panzer, but it now seems surprisingly expensive to run (at least for non-premium).

For example the last (full t8) match: victory, 1864 dmg, 478 assist, one kill. 14 shots, 13 hits, 8 pens, no gold ammo. Top of the team, 1st skill reward. Survived, lost about half of health.

And the profit? 4597 credits.

Another match: full T8 victory, 1627 dmg, 172 assist. 11 shots, 6 pens, no gold ammo. Died. Profit? -43 credits.

Sure I haven't played Indien much for some time (few battles ofc before the patch to get some idea of the buffs), so I really can't compare how it was before. Still ever in my 130+ games I thought it was expensive. Costs seem to be more like T9 levels now. I'd expect more like 15k'ish profit from the first game for example, and at least few thousands on second as well.

In comparison, I just got small profit (241) on lost match with T-44 while doing just 1368dmg+662 assist (where I died). Granted one pen shot was on T9 and others on T8. But it was still a defeat with much less xp than on those examples with Indien.

What do you think?

Not to come across as an a** or anything, but... do any tier 8+ tanks make decent credits without a premium account after doing only 1.6k and dying?.

Unless its a premium tank i full expect to loose credits every high tier battle i play unless its an absolute stormer.

For T9-10 yeah, I agree. But you don't really need to do that much on T8 to get some profit. I rarely get to negative creds unless I use gold. Sure the income is nothing that special at that tier, but still I'd expect a bit more from a decent victory.

Premiums make the credits

Tech tree tanks are for the oiks and peasants

A premium account makes a HUGE difference

Think it might just be the fact you actually died, The repair bill for destruction is much greater than even if you survive on 1%HP right?.

nope, everything is right, tier 8 is not for making credits with regular tanks, especially when you miss half of your shots and die. it would be a surprise if you could actually grind credits like that.

Shell cost is the same, and they buffed the alpha and standard pen, so if anything it should be making slightly more credits as it will pen more shots and do more damage with each pen, for the same cost.

Half your shots don't do anything. Tbh then it's expected not to make a profit always. It's more or less every tier 8. As you don't get a return on those shots. Even if they hit as they don't damage anything. I mean how many shots did you connect on the T-44 vs it?

The T-44 seems to be a solid bet for not going into negative credits post match, unless you use APCR en mass.

German mediums have always been outclassed by the Russian ones, especially when it comes to sustainability. Dunno if they made it like that "for historical reasons", but I already noticed that ~8 years ago while grinding the Panther II. I think I even opened a thread in the forums about this issue back then. And when I did the grind for the Indien, also many years ago, nothing had changed.

There's a difference in the xp you get between doing damage on tanks that you spot yourself and doing damage on tanks that are spotted by others, right?

Does that difference also exist with regards to the credits you get for damage done?

There is no magic jump at tier 9. It gets progressively worse as tiers rise. You were in the positive at the end of the battle despite not doing great amount of damage, and despite losing half your hitpoints. I'd call that just fine. I can get 60k credits (profit) in an E100, does that mean that E100 is not expensive tank to run, and that it is a good credit grinder? Absolutely not.

Also it matters a lot how you did the damage. If you were not spotting your own targets you did not get full amount of credits for each shot at tanks that someone else was spotting for you (same applies for experience). Were you shooting tanks that are of lower tier?

I suggest you read this: https://wiki.wargami...nce_and_Credits

Well, that goes a long way to explaining then, if you use the Indien Panzer as a second line sniper.
