Hello tankers!

supertest-A43_BP_prototype_EN.jpg

The closed Supertest is about to be graced by a visit of a heavy British gentleman, the A43 BP prototype.

It’s more widely known to players as the Black Prince, the big brother of Churchill (the tank not the Prime Minister).

Pictures :

The prototype of the Black Prince is sort of a line extension to the Churchill. It has more armor (150 mm at the front of both its turret and hull) and a gun of a larger caliber. The British 17-pounder is capable of firing rapidly (11 shots per minute) and has an excellent penetration of 171 mm with a basic round. To crack the armor of an especially tough opponent, you may employ an APCR able to pierce 239 mm of steel.

Everything goes with a price, and in the case of the Black Prince it’s dynamics. This Brit is slow and cumbersome, with a top speed of just 20 km/h. The hull traverse of 20 degrees per second lets any fast tank ring circles around it. You will have to get used to this sluggishness.

The A43 BP prototype was made to slowly (but stylishly) push through enemy defensive lines. Its armor allows it to mitigate punches laid by vehicles of the same tier, and its armament is enough to damage any foe. The only thing keeping the Black Prince from totally dominating every battlefield is its sluggishness.

Oh, look. Another tech tree tank re-released as a premium tank a tier below.

>2.5s aiming for 150 alpha

Balance department hard at work I see.

Also why is this a thing. People don't exactly play the current Black Prince and think to themselves "ah gee I wish I could pay for this kind of torture!"

I see an opportunity! Napkin design, goes vroom vroom mega fast! Zooms across the enemy and outruns tier 10 lights.

But no on a more serious note: Don't think this tank is that fun to play. The speed makes it hard to play and tier 7/8's will chew trough it so fast it's not worth playing. (unless the front drivewheel weakspot is removed :P)

Yeah, just take a crappy T7 heavy, reduce the gunstats slightly, reduce HP by 40% and release it as a T6 premium heavy.

How about instead you just put some actual armor on the TOG for the same result?

I'm sorry, why haven't we done anything for the FV201(A45) yet?

This better be a Churchill VII replacement...

If that were to happen all of the Churchill-family would rejoice - and yes, I mean the tanks.

Would it be too much to ask to put that on the list of design flaws to be fixed?

Ediths note: If WG decides to make this fix a priority if they sell a certain number of this premium tank, I will consider buying one ^^

To be honest, the time spent on this project would have been better

used getting the Chieftain added to the tech tree.

Will be happy to skip it. Slow as snail, armor can't justify that.

Since nobody has posted anything lately and some of us do care about quirky British vehicles, I'd like to make a suggestion.

This tank has 600hp. We all know that the Black Prince should be able to do 34.3kph as the standard speed with that much power.

The Irish even stuck a Merlin 55A in a regular Churchill and the BP has a larger engine bay.

Please make this thing interesting and make it go at least 30. There is absolutely no reason that a tier 5 lend-lease Churchill III with 374hp can do 28kph, but this thing with 600 can only do 20.

That also goes for the tech tree Black Prince.

I'd also put forward (again, after 2 years of asking for it) that you increase the FV201's top speed to 40. It's a fat Centurion with an overpowered engine.

There is no need to gimp these vehicles with pointless limitations that serve no purpose in the current meta of the game.

Thanks. Some of us will buy these if you make them worth our while.

P.S The Excelsior has 600hp too and weighs about the same as a Churchill but goes at 38+...
