Probably it is metaphoric ... I think that they wanted to say "stiff".

 

Anyways ... this part of the article was a little bit grim.

Recovering disabled vehicle is very grim business. And I think the most of remains had passed the stiff phase.

Guess benefits of running your irregular unit is that you can use what you can lay your hands on.

Like others have said a good read. Have always wondered if  WG would ever introduce the British "Cuckoo" Panther which did see action in WWII as a premium?
