Hi guys.

So I acquired this bullet shaped thingy during a marathon not too long ago but it was to get the BIA crew more than anything else. I moved the crew to other tanks and I'm pretty much done with those and with the crew re-training discount weekend in place I was thinking of maybe giving this iron beast a try. Thing is though I'm really sitting on the fence with the decision and could do with some breakdowns on how this tank is, how it performs, it's "happy place" on maps, where it should be going, what class of targets it should focusing on and of course, it's strengths and weaknesses. Also, I'm not a heavy tank player, like a fish out of water when it comes to side scrapping and all that plus I'm not much a fan of glacially slow tanks. Is it that slow though, maybe it's acceptably mobile and should I bother with it all then?

If u get in tier VIII mm, mmm come to daddy you can go BRRRRR, becouse rate of fire and armor is strong like its rusky td. In higher tiers battles, camp.

British tanks with 20-pounder guns like hitting that thing's weakspots and detracking it, so... You'd better be careful when facing them.

I don't own one so cant say what they are like to play but I have encountered many during my T28 grind and they are fairly easy to kill with that lfp weakspot whereas the T28 seems to bounce more.

It's not an amazing tank but it has a very decent armor and great DPM. You have to sidescrape in it and when you do, the lower plate becomes 250 mm ish effective. Don't brawl against T9s and T10s, Only against T8s and lower. It is comparable to T28. T28 has better armor against standard ammo while TS-5 is better against premium ammo.

T28 is more accurate, TS-5 has the DPM. And also TS-5 is more mobile top speed wise, but turns slower.
It's a different version of T28 rather than a copy. It's a very good tank but if you don't like slow tanks then you probably won't like it.

Frontlines is a good place for these monsters, especially when defending a position though equally effective if one can find a suitable vantage point to support the capture of a Zone.

I do not own one, but I have been on the receiving end of one may times in FL, and they usually require a coordinated effort from the team to take down.

Your speed is good so you need to use it to get in positions as quick as possible. You need close to mid-range to be able to hit your targets, because of the poor accuracy (0,39 max with BIA, vents and food, but I wouldn't take vents as you probably still have the equipment you received in the marathon as well. use those: optics, GLD and rammer). Hide lower plate at all cost, as it's your main weakness and keep moving while reloading, to make it hard for your enemies to hit your cupola. Also take note that the gun has only -5 degrees of gun depression!

Awesome gun

Nice DPM

Godlike when toptier

Bouncy frontal armor

but

Large and obvious weakspots (huuuuge LFP, cupola)

No turret

All in all, not very enjoyable vehicle imho.

Pretty much as an assault gun should be, accuracy is bad and forces you to go closer, short to mid range is pretty good, it has the standard American 120mm, good gun, top tier is pretty strong, can be support TD, or even substitute heavy. Hide your weak-spots, gg.

I’m actually having a great time with it. When it’s top tier, I play it like it is a heavy tank.

Very risky thing to do, because - well - it still is a turretless, slow-ish TD.

My advice is: don’t be a camper with this beast. I’m usually quite cautious with all my tanks, but when play the TS-5, I play very aggressively.

As a sniper shooting from far, I find it not very precise. It feels better when where the action is.

I don't know about the TS-5, but when I doubt about a tank I already own, I just put a 75% crew in (or if available a 100% with perks trained for other tanks, without retraining). Put some consumables, even skip equipment if you don't want to demount them.

When it feels ok'ish, probably you will like it fully equipped. When its terrible, a good crew and equipment still won't make it very good.

I played the ts5 a lot, since I acquired it.

I really like it a lot.

1 vs 1 you nearly always feel that you have the advantage.

As long as you do not drive into a defender head on trading bumpers, you will have the upper hand.

The ts5 eats defenders.

This is an assault TD, it does not side scrape as it has no turret, but wiggles its front side ways and up and down to make your cupolas a lot harder to hit.

While you other armor and your awesome DPM does its work.

The high pen of the gun makes firing normal rounds very acceptable.

Now get this thing into a position where you can hide its lower plate and your gonna have a good time.

On top of that its a good credit earner and fun to play.

Good tank in FL as well, especially for the 3rth section of the map push or defend.

If it is top tier then the armour is disgustingly overpowered. Not many lower tiers can pen the lower plate or the cupola. Some even struggle to pen the side.

same as t110e3 - crap at its tier, supposedly armored assault td, that cant assault and gets penetrated by everything.

Why not? It works fine for me and I do it a lot to bait people to shoot me and then use my dpm to punish them while they reload. Very nice when I play 1 vs 1 against a 2-shot. I bait him to shoot, bounce, push on him and maybe take 1 hit max if I'm unlucky.

I have quite a hard time to pen them in my light tanks. The side armor bounces quite well against them.

Only played mine on FL tbh. It's rather good when defending 5 or town with that DPM. Trained a crew for the T30 to the 3rd skill just via FL. Lost count on how many fast Generals that DPM has given me defending. But most tier 8 guns even with normal ammo will have no issues with that lower plate. So don't poke to much up of you are higher up, or over a ridgeline etc.
