While perusing the Reddit AMA from yesterday I found this exchange:

Nice! I reckon XVM sniping will become a thing of the past and be replaced by anonymous profile sniping! Joy!

Edit: unless everyone in a battle is made anonymous of course

Yep, read this yesterday...

Reddit July 2019 Q&A:

 49. Будет ли возможность скрыть свой онлайн-статус/ник от друзей в игре?
— Работаем над первой версией анонимайзера, которая появится довольно скоро. В дальнейшем будем расширять функционал.

They're working on the first version of the "Anonymizer" and it'll appear soon. More features will be added in the future.

It'll be interesting to see what replaces XVM focus as the excuse for getting blatted by arty while being the only tank available as a target.

It depends on what they hide. As if it's just info xvm uses etc. As clan tags and badges are still something even non-xvm uses sees. And some clans are more known then others, just like some badges are more shiny then others. I suspect many high wn8 players will put up the bronze Stug badge when this appears.

And with no XVM. Some will still stick out more than others. Unless they hide clan tags too as an option. As back in the day, if you did see a Fame tag on the enemy team. 6 guys said "focus Skoda" at the same time. XVM or not.

XVM not needed to focus good players.

They'll be the active ones (getting spotted) who don't instantly die.

AKA the perfect arty target because they're still going to be around by the time they can aim in.

Maybe this will go some way to stop the prolific bullying in game

I'm willing to bet that most players that "focus" on good players don't even have xvm. As I said, badges, clan tags or like you said. They are effective or annoying. They will be noticed too. Tho no xvm will def help tone down on some of it.

They will have to seek asylum in a new ludicrous justification! ;)

Not a chance. You can hide your stats in Warboats and that's often seen by those who care about stats as a tacit admission that you're a terrible player with a 45% win rate or less. When the shamers see someone not fully committing with hidden stats they'll jump on them same as now "because only terrible players would bother to hide their stats".

They announced this in a video talking about topics they were thinking about working on. They didn't promised anything, yet it would be nice just so the xvm focus whinners can stfu for once.

Imo they should ban XVM stats in battle instead.

People playing terribly will suddenly not be noticed while playing terribly because their stats can't be seen?

Do you really believe that people will be less annoyed by a teammate playing like a useless dope because said useless dope hid his/her stats?

People seem to think that having the bad stats is the problem. It's not. The problem is how you play to get those stats. That's what pisses people off. If you just do your part in a battle, no one gives a damn about your winrate/wn8/etc.

Considering i get messages out of the blue, even after a good game or after an unrelated post on the forum, berating my 49.5% win rate, at least it will go some way.

If people take the time to berate 49.5% players based on their stats they really should find something else to do... Unfortunately people that are thick enough to harass you now will probably find another reason to do the same.

Well one of them in particular is a player who I have seen mentioned on these forums as an example of their unicum (though heavily padded) stats. I am not alone in this, I know plenty of other players with a similar win rate and WN8 to me, who get the same treatment. This is the reality of having stats exposed to possibly the most toxic gaming community currently in existence.

Being British, I tend to blame the weather for most things... too hot, too cold, wrong type of drizzle

Those kids aren't half as persistent though, they get bored. Whereas a WoT player will troll you until you blacklist them
