I just got a Ferdinand. I have a very good crew on it. Aside from the secondary skills (all crew members have at least 4 skills and 5th one soon).

I have: B&A, Smooth Shot, Recon, Situational Awareness, Repairs.

What equipment do you all recommend.

Thanks :)

Rammer, Vents, Binocs

Aim time is good enough to not use GLD.

Rammer, vents and binos. Maybe optics instead of binos, your call.

Yeah, rammer and vents plus either optics or binos depending on playstyle.

I prefer to snipe at range with TD's so I put camo net, bino's and rammer followed by L/s repair kit, med kit and chocolate bar.

(so called experts feel free to laugh at my set up)

Aha so the binoculars or optics are the 3rd ingredient. I kinda suspected rammer and vents. Well from my experience unless the gun arc is good the binos are constantly being turned off.I just did the calc and with B&A, Situational and Recon + Optics I get 445m view range. Which is sufficient as I dont expect to be the one spotting my own lunch.

I think I will go with optics because those extra meters of view range are not useful to me since the TD is not turreted. I was going to go for the GLD but I see the use of optics. Cammo is also a good option because that is what I currently have because I need to buy everything else and I have like 4 cammos in depot. :)
However I dont think that Ferdinand is stealthy enough to even make use of the cammo in any meaningful way. I got spotted while in bush under cammo by Progetto from a quite far away.

That is not correct, it doesn't matter if you are turreted or not. Once you spot an enemy (stationary with bino's) it will stay spotted for 10 seconds and it will still be "your" spotting. You can then move your tank while aiming, it will still be spotted. Just be aware and activate your bino's once in a while to keep it spotted at long distances.

As a TD your survival depends on being able to stay concealed, and spotting at larger distances helps. If you will be stationary for periods of time bino's are the better choice. Also do remember the 445m is only the hard cap on spotting distance, within that radius you will spot tanks easier with more then 445m spotting range. I do not know the exact numbers, but you will be able to spot tanks with high camo ratings from further away instead of only noticiing them when they are at like 200m away, giving you more opportunity to take them out before they spot you.

True dramya true.
I will try out both binos and optics. See what fits me best.
Biggest problem is now to get an adequate gun since I came to Ferdi via Tiger P line. So I only have 8.8 gun to use for now. I know light tanks with more pen and damage at these tiers.
