First off not all maps, majority of maps are a good size for all tiers but there are some which especially at high tiers becomes very hard to change side without being spotted by somone literally the other side of the map. Such as: Ensk, Ruinburg and Cliff

In my opinion the width to all maps is very good, offers many areas for teams to brawl it out and snipers to gets shots on the enemy. The problem I have is noticing that a flank is being overrun or on the side I am on there are too many tanks so I need to spread out but the fear of being spotted stops me since the risk of taking high damage is too high. Makes the game not very flexible and once you are on a side you have to stay even if the other side is left wide open.

So maybe increasing the map lengths, not by much, maybe half of the map size added on top and bottom. Making the map rectangular and meaning is much easier to support a different side without being found. The flag positions don't have to change just allow a rear area for movement.

all the small maps need to be restricted to tier 1-7. Maps like Abbey, Ensk, Himmelsdor and Mines have no business in high tiers.

Also Overlord need to be restricted for high tiers only like it was before (tiers 6-10) because on low tiers that map is just 20% camping in the base and 80% going suicide on beach.

Not everyone wants to play that tryhard mode that this seasons FL has been.

But about OPs suggestion, I think that wouldn't be beyond scope of possibility. BF2 had that ages ago. The devs have been 'redesigning' maps for EnCore for long, and one major change has been the modelling of a map beyond the borders in more detail than during Bigworld. It's a shame that those sq kms go unused.

It's been posed for long that GB maps would work as well or better as in 15vs15 enviro for high tiers. And the small size of some maps has received calls to removal from high tiers. Stretching f.e. Ensk would not be anything off from lower tiers, and would solve some complaints.

I think I like the idea I got when reading your title. Then again it would require loads of work.....

I mean maps of max size that are only fully playable on tier X, and get reduced terrain for each lower tier.

Imagine a 20x20 grid - at tier 9 you get a random subsection (4 choices) of this as a 19x19 grid - at tier 1 you get almost a random map (as there are almost 100 possibilities to fit the 11x11 grid onto the 20x20 grid)

Maps would grow with tier and especially in the lower and mid tiers this could lead to nice differences on the same map - would need some de-corridoring though ^^

But this will be very hard to implement, mostly because of the map balance.

How about no?

My super-heavies wouldn't be able to get anywhere even remotely on time.

Equal rights for width or GTFO. It's 2019 FFS.

Did you just assume its dimension?

Erm, without reading the thread (because I really can't be bothered), are we talking about games where you see tier X tanks fighting on Mines? I mean wtf is that all about? It was like Mittengard, when you can could spot the enemy the moment you spawned. … Oh, that being said...  Hey, WG, can you bring back Mittengard, but for tier X tanks? That would be utterly amaze-balls! Seriously, I'll renew my premium account if you do! Scouts' honour! :P
