I read some interesting news on russia today that for example streaming films from one provider uses the same co2 as the whole country of chile so I thought if just some of us use low graphic settings the load on our gpu/cpu would be less, so maybe we could make atleast WoT HQ clima neutral. Wg should also consider making something like "recommended low graphics settings" to help save the enviroment.

For me playing on low settings dosent impact the gameplay alot since i dont focus on stats/marks.

If you shut down your pc, we can play on high graphic settings.

This is the most ridiculous piece of conspiracy rubbish I've ever read in my life.

Heat does not produce CO2.

Breathing does... If they told you to stop breathing, would you??

Save the trees. Trees convert CO2 into oxygen. If you wanna keep CO2 emmissions to a minimum and "save the planet", stop using paper/wood products, and plant more trees to convert that excess CO2 back into oxygen.

This has nothing to do with WoT though so why is this thread here anyway?

What's ridiculous is that you thought he's referring to the heat coming out of your PC case as the one causing CO2...

He's referring to electricity use. The more intensive your computer's CPU/GPU use is, the higher its electricity consumption.

The worlds population is going to increase by 100% over the next 30 years

Focus on getting a home and surviving the population apocalypse

The replies here are as dumb as OP. He's not stating heat produced by hardware directly affects CO2 levels, he's saying that by drawing less power to your system less power needs to be generated and unless you're using 100% "green" energy less power being generated means less CO2 being produced.

That said, I'm kind of done with governments and various groups telling me it's up to me to save the environment when proper, strict regulations on industry and maybe some self-awareness from the ultra-rich would achieve more in a minute than I could in a lifetime. You know how WG could make their whole business more climate neutral? Upgrade their servers to something more efficient than the Pentium IV racks I suspect they're still running.

Max settings, max overclock, up to 600w power draw from the wall when gaming. Furiosa!

I won't start saving power until bitcoin mining is made illegal.

Also the whole COstuff is easily solvable when people are willing to pay more for their comfort. It's just a matter of money.

Ps. Doesn't mean I'm wasting power on purpose now, but saving is a different thing.

Though producing electricity does. So, in a way OPs right.

Yeah, but where there are trees there are bears too and bears eat people.

Well don't know about turning down the graphics but tell you what I will do to cut down on emissions...

I will stop eating egg mayo sarnies cos when I do I seem to produce a vast quantity of 'emissions' :)

The OP is clearly concerned with climate change and its effects upon our descendants, and you feel it necessary to resort to reductio ad absurdum to create a response?  I personally believe everybody should be concerned about climate change and how our actions impact it.

Everybody can do their bit in a small way to help.  Be it cut down on meat a little, walk instead of drive and turn of appliances not being used, etc.  I intend to keep playing my games on high setting (it is a hobby for me.) and attempt to make changes in other areas.  it is for everybody to decide how big or small a contribution they wish to make.

Sure, governments need to do more.  Problem is governments in most nations are elected and when people are unhappy with policies they will change the government.  Any Government committed to zero net carbon emission is going to have to inflict some quite draconian policies to achieve it.   Kiss goodbye to meat every day and driving whenever you want.  If you are concerned, there is nothing to stop you making small changes today, rather than waiting for the government to do your thinking for you.

Thank you Mother Theresa, your sainthood is on it's way.

When you've finished chomping down the propaganda have a look at the real world and why government's, all in full knowledge, still do thier best to [edited]over the environment.

In Scotland we now produce more wind power than we use, so my graphic settings have nothing to do with it.  I might go switch some more stuff on just to celebrate.
