I'm still quite new to the game, so any help is greatly appreciated.

btw the reason I got the kv-85 is so that I can get the IS-7.

Could you pass some replays? Usually they'd help a lot for folks to give specific advice.

Slopes are evil, stay away from them.

Your gun depression is so horrible that the enemy can shoot you long before you can shoot them.

Also, the 100mm gun is far superior to the 122mm in anything but overmatching armour.

Unless you have at least 50 battles on it after it's fully upgraded, you shouldn't even be looking at the WR yet.

As for the win rate, you only got 17 battles with it. At that low a count the win rate isn't really meaningful (currently each win or loss will slosh the win rate around by several percents anyways)

Otherwise, your average damage with it is a tad bit low.

-Use the 100mm gun with a good amount of APCR. It got much better DPM and better accuracy.

-Mount rammer, vents and optics for equipment.

-Train your crew as follows:

  • Commander: 6th sense, BIA, repairs, recon, situational awareness
  • Gunner: repairs, BIA, snap shot
  • Driver: repairs, BIA, smooth ride
  • Loader: repairs, BIA, safe stowage

-Get rid of it as fast as possible using personal reserves and premium time if you have it because it isn't really a good tank with those 3° of gun depression.

- Don't get shot as it has little armor especially from higher tiers. Wait for the enemy to go on reload and then go out of cover to shoot.

-Post replays here if you want help with your positioning on the map.

Go into settings and make sure its enabled for every battle,

Then go onto and log into this site;http://wotreplays.eu/ and hit the upload button, then navigate into whereever your world of tanks folder is on your PC, hit the replay folder and find the correct one, its usually ontop.

then when thats uploaded give us the link

A. Check your settings, there's checkbox for enable last replay save and enable all replays save.

B. WoT folder has subfolder 'replays'

C. Go to above link and sign in with your WG acc credentials

D. Upload file to wotreplays

E. Copypaste the address line to post

Stock Kv85 is horrible and with full modules and skilled crew it is a good tank. My fav gun is 122mm, it takes long time to reload but hiding and shoting is the best thing this tank does with 122 mm.

I have exprerienced one thing in this game, when you grind a new tank, you may face losing streaks. So you need some patience.

If you are low tier don't waste your tank in the beginning. You can clean up some  low health tanks.

Thats easy...you just bought the Kv 85 with a 50,80 or 100% crew.and have  800 battles.

Its a tier 6 tank so that means you gonna play with the big boys now.The game changes on  tier 6.

There a lot of tier 6 premiums with good crews in them .

If you top tier it means you got to pull the battle, (and you probberly aint gonna do that with 758 battles under ya belt)especially if the enemy team got a average player with 20k battles

if you the lowest tier you will face tier 8 premiums with good crews ..they will take you out no problem.

That awful 3 degree gun depression makes this tank vulnerable on open maps, better fighting from cover in buildings with the 100 mm. Better tanks to grind to, especially the IS3. Stay with the grind and get your crew trained up.

After KV-85 that you need to get used to (for all the obvious reasons mentioned above), you will have to play with the IS which is quite similar. IS is a better tank, but you will start facing tier IX tanks and those are from the "big league", much stronger and played by better players.

I would add that KV-85 is played more like KV-1S (with the 85mm gun). KV-1 would be a baby T-150 in that respect. So, you cant stay exposed with KV-85 and expect to rely on your armor.

You will have to be patient, once you get used to it, it will start to work. When you pass the IS (to IS-3 and further) your playstyle will need to adopt again.

all positive advice... I think i'm on the wrong board or some alternate universe...

Play more games in it and focus on playing it solely for a while to get used to it.   I am awful for hopping around from stock tank to stock tank.  They all have different play styles to adapt to, and good luck.

Most of time, low wr is usual for new beginners, at low tiers nobody care about "team play" and they just rush at first moments and die, if you want to enjoy the game, especially with soviet low tier tanks, never go front lines alone, never rush at fitst minutes and never try hull down positions.

Next thing is, try to download and watch replays from "wotreplays.eu" and learn how others are playing it(your current tank), then compare your own gameplay with what you seen.

Gl, and hf. ;)

U realise how ridiculous this advice sounds to someone that just got to Tier 6, do you? 3 skills on a crew, that's 1.5million XP, you need 2000+ battles to achieve that. The OP has barely 1k battles, how do you expect she'd get that? Same with equipment - I doubt a fresh player stays on that amount of credits at this point in the game.

That's one of the reasons WOT blows hard for new players; their only option is to become cannon fodder for the senior players. Or buy the Fort Knox package.

But it's not wrong to give them an idea of a long term plan for the game that might not involve fort knox, besides OP said wants to work to is7   by the time they get to is7 that would be a reasonable crew expectation.

to OP   don't forget you can retrain crews as you go up tiers for your current vehicles.    You can pay 20k credits per member to get them to 80%,   the gold cost is very high.

From what I have read most players start retraining from T4.

It's only a few games, so it hardly means something. On top of that, you do very little damage on average, so basically you have to hope your team picks up the slack. Of course this is understandable with a stock tank and probably not an amazing crew in it, but the opposing team is unlikely to care much about that ;)

Just don't worry too much about it just yet. Try to get to grips with the tank, activate some XP boosters to get to the top modules faster, and if it's getting you down, just leave it for the day and play some tanks you enjoy.

And if you upload some replays I'm sure there will be good advice :) In general, in a stock tank, try to support your top tier tanks as much as possible. You're usually gimped in mobility and firepower, so try to be around the big dogs of your team and make sure you're as annoying to the enemies trying to kill them as possible. Go for tracks so enemies get stuck peeking, take shots for your teammates if you have to so better guns stay in the game, that kinda stuff.

No i don't. It's a sound advice and i doubt anyone would've offered anything better including you.

Those are the important crew skill he/she should have in order. I didn't say those are the required skills to play a tier 6 or the KV-85. He/she can take as many battles to acquire them.
