Current WoT balance and esports????
How?

The current WOT product is so far from being competetivly viable that creating an esports scene for it would be insulting to competetive games imo.

The Grand Final (I think?) A few years ago simply wasn't fun to watch. Pro Teams mountain goating and whichever BC missed first lost from what I remember.

WG products and pro gaming are not viable. I've been into WoWS and it's similar meh pro.

WoT don't have any choice unless their long term strategy is to become a minor video game pursued by a few enthusiasts

Invest in your player base

or lose millions of players to those platforms who do invest

We live in interesting times

EDIT Considering that many players do insane grinds for meh rewards the added incentive of 000's of real world dollars would help to relieve the boredom a teensy bit

who wants to see a World Cup made up of only Russian tanks (And a Chieftan) ?

If WoT removed the RNG in the game and make it purely skill based they have winner,,, until then WoT will fail as a ESport.

Or restrict the number & type of tanks you can play just like they did with Homefront?

Fortnite is predominately a single player game, WoT is a team based game.

To have a global competition event such as Fortnite are doing would require a new mode (I think it was tried once as a special event using Mines map), or it requires dedicated teams (clans basically) to enter. Players would need to be single minded about the game, Constant practice with the same players, hour after hour, honing their skills and team play and tactics. That limits the players who are interested to a relative few. It would mean clans competing for the best players. It would mean more and more whining threads about cheats and how unfair the game is. It becomes a job not a form of entertainment.

Certainly wouldn't appeal to me.

That was a showcase of what were the most broken tanks in the game.

One year there were 4 WT auf E100 pushing through Ghost Town, the following it was Maus.

Copied from Esports.net

Does this help explain why?

World of Tanks Esports

The longest journey to competitive excellence

Whether you’re talking about World of Tanks EU or other regions, it’s clear that the game enjoys a lot of success. But the same can’t be said about its esports scene. WoT has been trying to establish itself as a competitive title since the 2012 World Cyber Games, however, these efforts have been unsuccessful.

Esports matches had a sluggish pace, and the 7v7 format of professional matches felt alien to the majority of the player base. So much so that the publisher put the official Wargaming.net League on hold in order to figure out a different way to approach the competitive side of WoT. Even so, World of Tanks players are passionate, so there’s a constant stream of unofficial tournaments and show matches. And in the end, it’s the fans that make esports tick.

Mohammed 'MoAuba' Harkous won the 2019 Fifa eWorld Cup after beating Saudi Arabia's reigning champion Mosaad 'Msdossary' Aldossary 3-2 in the final.

The German outperformed 31 other players at the event at London's O2 Arena to take home the title and top prize of $250,000 (£205,600).
