Ok guys, good evening.

I've got a little story and some help, please.

Got around 2k games. I spent hundreds for premium time, 4 premium tanks and free exp conversion.

My feeling at the moment is frustration, anger. Why?

500 avg dmg at tier 9, yes, i do suck.

20% survival rate.

48% winrate

50% hitratio.

In every game i feel like everywhere im going/hide i can be hit and in a matter of seconds i will die.

The game is not fun anymore, im angry all the time, screaming and pointing the [edited]map.

What im doing wrong?

Im playing mostly heavies. Russian line. I tried mediums but i suck badly.

Upload your last 5 replays and I will look at them on Monday evening. Last 5 mind you. Dont cherrypick!

Your amount of battles are very low to play a T9 tank properly.

Stay low, don't bypass tiers with xp conversion.

You have "all the time in the world of tanks".

There is a 'replays' folder in your WoT folder. You can upload them to wotreplays.eu

There you go...

https://eu.wargaming.../article/10411/

About the game, divide your time between learning stuff and actually playing the game. A good way to shorten the time required is to watch streamers. You don't need to reinvent the wheel, watch how a streamer/good player position himself in the map with different tanks, how to avoid taking damage, how to use camo and view range, how to play when bottom tier, etc.

Managing your account, crew skills, credits, grinds, etc. is as important as playing the game. Being efficient will make things easier and more enjoyable.

Limit the amount of money you're planning to spend till you're sure that you actually like the game. You can't judge it properly when you still don't know the basics.

99% of the game is: positioning + decision making. Explore the maps as much as you can in streams, YT videos and replays to know the best positions you can use with which tanks. Decision making is harder to learn as you won't be knowing what's going on in the player's head. It's about when to attack and when to retreat, the amount of HP the enemy got vs. yours, the advantage of taking certain tanks out, what kind of information you get by looking at the mini map, etc. A good place to start is this site, it lists most maps in the game and the common strategies to play them with different tanks/classes.

That part will definitely take more time but that's the most fun part for me at least. Anyway, good luck and keep using the forums and keep asking questions until you're satisfied with your performance.

I would highlight whats already been said. Dont rush the tiers and play all kind of tanks, not only heavies.
The grind is easy from tier 1-6 so grind a few from different nations and then decide which to keep.

You have to learn the game before playing top tiers. At 2k battles you still don't know nothing about the game.

That is your main problem. Play lower tiers. Max tier 5. KV-1 is good russian heavy.

There are good tanks and fun to be had in every tier in the game. Check out this topic, it's a community poll about the must have tanks from tier 4 to 10.

I mean look at this thing, it starts moving and i start laughing. :)

To circle back to OP's question, to a newcomer it's quite a hard game to get to grips with.  There are hundreds of tanks, at 10 tiers, all with multiple options.  Rapidly getting a tier 9 is doable but unlikely to work well for most.

A tier 9 is no better than a tier 3, in fact worse as it will meet better opposition.

Trust me tier 10 is no place you have fun with 3K battles.

It's quite hard because usually one don't know what to look for. Whether it's to buy a good premium, have a lot of credits, have all tier 10s, etc. There are a lot of different targets and all of them are valid one way or the other but people, including me, often forget to find the key before smashing their heads against the door!

Some of the best players around, yes i see you Delta, started playing like me, you and the OP but once they put their mind to getting better it's a matter of time. After knowing a few basic facts, it becomes a very simple game. It helps a lot if you have a good memory and some free time on your hands.

I do understand that i need to improve..what i dont understand and somehow didnt expect is this level of complexity..i mean, from what are you saying i should spend more time on this game than my job..and, another thin: even if i learn the game is not fair, having xvm i can see even in low tiers players with 30k, 40k. In higher tiers 30k is normal..Heck, how can i compete with them?

Quite easily.  Most players here are pretty crap, you should be able to exceed them without too much effort.

Remember match count has little correlation to your actual skill. You can play the game all day but still ´have no clue of mechanics, because you simply don't care about it enough to watch any videos or whatever. A lot comes down to intuition as well, some pick up the concepts faster than others.

XVM is a bad tool because all it does is give you a false sense of overconfidence when it says youre favored and pulls you down when it says you arent, but its well known that those stats mean little to nothing.

It isn't about the amount of time you invest in the game, it's about the quality of that time. For just under 2000 games you're doing pretty well, but progression in the game isn't linear.

As a rough rule of thumb only move up a tier when you can get +50% winrate in a vehicle over a decent number of games. That shows you've at least mastered something in comparison to your peers.

Do the personal campaign missions. They teach you the game in a progressive way, and even if you don't like playing some of the tank classes you need to play to do the missions, it teaches you how to play against them.

Try and avoid ever going into battle with a commander without sixth sense. It is surprising how many new players do this, and then find they just lose too many hit points.

Get your graphics and mouse keyboard settings right. Make sure arcade and sniper settings are correct. A few extra FPS can make a big difference.

Max out your minimap on your screen.

Watch some YouTube guides.

One hour invested in doing some of the above will pay you back many hours of missed frustration in the game.
