I've played about 15 games in the Setter now, and I feel like i'm actually causing my team to lose by playing it, I've had 3 games which I know if I had been in any other tier 7 I could of carried, or been a benefit to the team in either damage or distraction.

Stock with 110 pen and 960 DPM is just jaw droppingly bad.

These are all stock turret and gun. Also it has equal worst view range ignoring the WV.

Being just a moving pair of eyes for the team is not enough!

Would be nice to know what all those numbers mean... 0/10 cropping, try again.

True - it gets better once it is elite, but usually you do not get to the passive spotting positions in time and your pen, while great for its tier, doesn't matter all that much as your team usually needs you to go active scouting cause for some reasons meds have to snipe...

You know the Valentine Light Tank at Tier 4 can use the same gun as the Setter (QF 6-Pounder Mk. V) but gets higher DPM with it. :teethhappy:

For that matter the Crusader at Tier 5 using the same gun gets over twice the DPM of the Setter!

Want a Laugh...

The post nerf M7 has 600 more DPM and the same viewrange and more ammo...

I've also added the key for people who need spoon feeding information.

I quite admire British Light users, they're giving it a go with a total POS

WoT must be testing them to see whether there's anything our OCD WoT grinders will refuse to touch

Bet WoT had a laff and a vodka or 10 the night someone came up with that line

They seem pretty shockingly based.
I am kind of looking forward to try them out.
Just 1 more T5 and a few T6 to play first.

Well, they're hardly unique in being a detriment to their team. Just look at the poor sods playing the T-34-2, or KV-5s getting matched up versus Defenders and VK100.01Ps.

...of course, a good player may well be able to exploit the strengths of a particular tank, but still.

The issue with the balance on those tanks, is that on most maps you can't do your role well. And when you can't do your role and your gun is terrible too. You can't counter or pull your own weight. I've had that a fair few times where the enemy is aggressive on a map where passive spotting is not gonna work. And I can't damage enemies fast enough to even scare tier 5's back.  Only good thing about it is the 75 HE pen on the Setter. But even then your DPM is not great.

I found it funny that wheels were given low AP DPM as a counter to their speed. Giving low DPM as a counter to good passive spotting, when other lights can get there faster, spot as well, and have 2x your DPM. Well...

Want a bigger laugh? Crusader when it was a light had over 2K DPM. Was agile, had the same view range two tiers down, and had great camo. That was a good UK scout back in the day.

I was a bit sad when they made the crusader a med - from the start of that line it had been a wierdfavourite of mine - a tier 5 pew pew stress relief tank -  I accidentally 3 marked it without any try harding at all in it's onld light tank mode - used to have a great crew in it - since re-purposed - but I always thought it would be a logical place to branch a light tank line from (although I had hopes they might start one from tier 2 with all new tanks) In any case I have played through the Setter (admitedley I free XP'd the top gun straight away) - for much of the grind I was over 60% wr then the weekend teams dropped it to 59 yesterday - but Bexsh*t Stage 1 is completed - Tier 8 unlocked - soon onto Bresh*t stage 2 with the tier 8 if I can hold my nerves - just played 1 game in it so far  on Himmelsdorf - did 2k damage and won thanks to a Caern engine fire (must have hit the bivvie - crew seemed more worried about loss of tea making equipment than they were about putting the fire out lol) but am not looking forward to tier 10 games in it - but it keeps me away from 3 marking arty, so it's for the greater good - honest guv!!!

Well to be fair, it still does much of the same in terms of pew pew. It's just less agile and lost the camo on the move. Loss of agility made it less flexible. But it still works as a scout if need be much like the Cromwell. It's still a better "light" then the Setter tier for tier even now.

If you take a look at what WG originally said about these tanks it sort of sounds like they were meant to be ok and  even unique but I presume they were afraid of steve and billy-bob trowing their toys out of pram again and that would have been too much. I mean they already lost it with wheelies and had there been another branch of tanks that could have shot them with high alpha from bushes they could not comprehend and even run away after shooting. Well steve would have been sad and billy-bob would have ragequit. And now we get a line of useless pos in order not to confuse steve.

I presume WG is going to carefully observe the statistics for about year or two and decide to buff them by giving them 1 more round each while making sure is7 has the same mobility...because steve.

No one says they all need high alphas and DPM. But passive spotting alone doesn't make them unique. As every light can do that. The issue is that most maps are not made for it. And when you have no alpha and no DPM then... Well. If the tier 7 was had the same bad agility as now, same bad view range and fairly good camo. But 1700 DPM, or a 3 round clip gun with 1400 DPM. No one would say anything I suspect. Imagine the ELC 90 with 1200 DPM and a single fire gun? It would be the worst scout in the game. But it has a 3 round clip. So it's not useless.

As I've played my tier 7 a fair bit. I had one game where his trait of passive spotting worked great. And today I finally got a good round where I moved to one spot and sat there all game. One game where I did not have to use my gun. One. This is their reason for balancing it as such. Because then I did not need my gun. The other matches I do. And when matches like this is once in a blue moon. Well, it kinda makes the balance of them pointless, even with considering Steve. Consider rather Steve playing it then getting hit by it.

Spoiler

I know, I three marked it while it was a light, and i remember a game absolutely chewing a T29 to pieces solo it was a full magazine autoloader :)

I loved the M7 and Crusader the way they were.

Also why does the Setter not get the Scorpions 76mm HESH gun?

That or a 3 round clip. Even with 1400 dpm it would not be even a bit unbalanced. Tho I was called a cheater and a hack in my Setter just now. I can't out DPM anything. So I was facing a tier 7 Scorpion. So I took 2 hits, and rammed him into the water so he could not use his gun and I could HE spam him. Only tank I can bully with my weight tbh. And since his gun did not work. I was a hacker. Made my day considering what tank I was in.
