The American heavies are completely out of place right now. The T57 can be penned by anything with that horrible armor with low penetration and alpha  and the E5 is nerfed to death. Is the Rusky bias that serious?

If someone pens you in your T57, then you should be able to do 1,6k damage to them. If you are not able to do that, or even 1,2k, then you are at fault and not the tank. T57 is still strong and it has a good pen with its AP shell, and if you need to go full easy mode with it you can use the 340 pen HEAT. E5 could use some love to make the cupola smaller but other than that it's pretty nicely balanced heavy and others should be more like it.

America us tanks already have some powerful tier 10s. T92, E3, E4, E5, M48. Do I need to say more?

E4 and E5 are not powerful. T92 is an arty. So it leaves E3 and M48.

I beg to differ, the E4 is quite a potent "heavy tank" if you ask me. In my hands, at least.

E5 tho...not sure if it's worth it anymore since it was nerfed long ago. Kinda stopped grinding the line after that.

HT designation doesn't always mean they will bounce everything. You have HT's like the 50 100. Not a tank you want to take hit's in. Then you have the Maus that can take hits, even has HP to trade. T57 is smack in the middle of those two. Turret can troll, but still not much of a chance vs most equal tier guns. It has burst damage to trade, not HP.

T32 gun def needs some attention. 198 pen worked wonders with that mantle 6 years ago. Less so today when some of the tier 8 armor have 220 "weak spot" armor, and is 250 effective lower plates if they angle it a bit like the VK 100.01.

Tho when, or if that "rebalance" plan they always talked about here a few months ago is still coming or not is a different matter. Tho the only tier 8 they did mention was the Tiger II. I'm hoping the IS-6 "again" and the T32 is a part of it too.

have to confess I cannot imagine anything wrong with the t57 !!

m103 and e5 perhaps a buff on cupola armour, or in e5 case make it a smaller cupola like they did with m48?

The wot-news winrate curves for American tier tens are hilarious. Only the E3 and E4 are even close to being in the right spot (but not powerful). All the rest, even the M48, are laughably off the mark. Especially the E5.

A tank may be difficult to play - while not being bad.

Main prroblem is that there are OP tanks out there that make most other tanks look like sh.t.

This is why the WR curves are useful - they show the vehicle WR compared to the player WR. A tricky vehicle which isn't a bad vehicle will show up as a below par vehicle for players with lower WR but an on-par or over-par vehicle for better players.

T57 is fine, it never was meant to bounce all that much. E5 was not nerfed to death it was just reverted to the previous state, besides, that happened few years ago. In the light of current state of the game and new 'fine and balaced' tanks that have been introduced E5 should probably get it's buff back.

About the M48, take a look at these...

M48 win rate curves

The blue curve (not the blue reference line) is from August 2015 to August 2016. The tank was fine, the crossing point was decent at 53% which means the tank required some effort but overall a reasonable performance vs. the player's.

The green curve is from August 2016 to August 2017, below average performance. Things started to get wacky with armor buffs, better new tanks and buffs to other nations.

The purple curve is from August 2017 to August 2018, almost an identical jump to 2015/2016 levels. Patch 9.2 buffs helped for a while then it went downhill again during 2019.

Actually the M1 Heavy is jolly good.  I get much better (or at least less dreadful) results in it than in the far more commonly seen KV1.

Interesting. The curves are quite similar but at different levels. Did you check out the e5 curve for the past month? Looks like just one average player been playing it very, very badly (it wasn't me)!
