Those who are browsing the complete technology trees probably noticed that depending on the nation in a given class of vehicles, there are two ways forward. And so the Russians are medium tanks, the T-34 eventually will be able to go to T-54 current path, or the side - in my opinion more interesting. The lateral branch is T-34M-modified and completely rebuilt T-34, A-44-modification or a prototype T-44, and at the end of the T-54 is the  Object 416. Little is known about him, it was one of the prototype T-54, had a very low profile and layout similar to the VK4502(P) Ausf B - he engine is at the front and the rear crew compartment . The prototype was created in 1951, had the dimensions: length 7.94 m, width 3.24 m and height of only 1.82 m and his weight was only 24 t . He was so very low, and thus difficult to detect and hit, while a large width has provided good conditions for traction. The tank had an engine of 400 hp which allowed him to achieve on the road speed of 50km / h, the crew consisted of four people, and was armed with 100mm caliber gun and a coaxial gun cal.7.62 mm. And here you have a few pics, the first prototype is shown next to the final T-54:

Tank looks sensational, and if the creator just replicate it is to be fast, agile and no bullets probably will ricochet from it often. Only for the thread, I can not get the driver where he sat - you do not see any manhole, the periscope, or anything that gave any indication :) And probably many of you - like me-can not wait to ride it.

wow. looks awesome, would love to see it pitched in the game.
would be interesting to see what it can do.

from the design, it looks like a sniper/stand off tank, meant to pick off tanks before the big assault.
not the kind of breakthrew tank the IS 4/7 is.

the rear looks extremly exposed for a deadly hit.

For the looks of it, I would say they all sit in the turret or under it, the driver probably using one of the periscoped hatches, for the looks of it I would say the right side one, it has 3 periscopes for wide angle view.

I've been told the A-44 is a T-44 with the turret at the rear as well but I've not been able to find any pictures or details on it.

And yes, the 416 is one of the cooler tanks planned, given the slope of the armour they'll almost have to make it behave like a T-44 to avoid usurping the IS (unless they give it few hitpoints).

You are right, the whole crew sit in the turret. Read about it in russian.

Design office that has designed the prototype of-fact and a few other final version of the T-54. There is today, the last of their projects is a very interesting modification of the T-84: Yatagan and Oplot. More about the office and its history you can learn at this address:http://www.morozov.com.ua/

T-54 is a T9, the 416 is actually a T8, so you can have BOTH!

man, I'm going to need 5-6 russian crews to get all the tanks I want :D
