Dear WG (and WG's employees on these forums)*,

You gave us another update some time ago. Thank you for that. The latest update introduced some new things and changes to the game. Some are good, but some, in my opinion, worsen the game experience. I do understand that you can't please all. Some like the changes, some don't. Fine.

One thing you have failed to address in all of your updates is the really annoying constant map pinging by some players. At times players, doensn't matter whether they are dead or alive, keep pinging a certain tank(s) or locations dozens of times with no consequence. Like that would force anyone to do whatever the "pinger" wanted?

Would you finally do something about this? I know I can blacklist them, which I do only too often. But there must be an easy way to limit how many times a person can ping a certain location in a row. or how many times in a minute. So, would you please finally do something about this?

BR,

Arty

(*) Please forward this suggestion to those who can actually do something about this. Thank you!

Although given that there is a five second cooldown for announcing where you aim with your artillery I do wonder a bit why they haven't done so for the map pinging as well.

With three patches each week that is hardly an option lately.

But agree with OP, why they havent dont something about the annoying mappingspam beats me. Most annoying thing in the game at the moment.

Like everyone else says, something should have been done a long time ago.

I mean they have a spam limit on the friend and ignore list. So you can't spam removal requests to the server. But sending ping requests to the server for 60 seconds straight is fine. I suspect adding a 5 ping limit over a few seconds before you get a temp timeout of say 10 seconds should not be to complicated to add?

Map clickers need therapy...especially the ones that click on you and then click half a dozen places on the mini map.

Ping spammers amaze me, some of those who do it must have brain damage.

I've seen people die in the first minute and literally ping spam an entire game until the time runs out.

Who on earth actually has the time and effort to do that?! Like why not just play another game, or even better think about their mistakes instead of mindless clicking.

Actually, that mod eased my game experience so much that I don't mind update my modpack approx. every week or so.

This game is designed to be cancer in every way possible, that's why they allow ping spamming (it would take 10 minutes to fix by any 15yo game dev).

That's why I was really surprised when I got my first chat ban, I thought being rude to each other was another feature of the game :(

It would take a random 15yo 15 minutes to learn to program enough to do it in 10minutes

But being rude and toxic is part of the game, hatred is encouraged, venting is often, WoW's is very different most of the time, way more relaxing.

I have ten games i WoW's and can make 20k fxp, same number in this crap, lucky if I get 3k fxp, everything about the game is utterly annoying, so yes i have bad days, usually when I log in, then the toxicness starts, in fact chat is turn ed off to save myself tbh.

So uncomplicated that you might wonder if they keep it around just for the heck of it - or that they're unable to change it. Probably the latter. Spaghetti code, and/or that the guy who wrote the code is long gone. If the relative effort required is too high, it's probably not deemed necessary to fix because it's not 'critical', and not actually a bug.

Funny thing, as annoying as map pinging is, I can't recall it being a common occurence - and I'm not even running the mod for it. Maybe I'm just used to it - how often do you (guys) think it happens? :)

Good thing that for all these small patches you don't need to reinstall any mod, just to move the files in the new folder.

Yeah, you are welcome !

Thank you all for your input. Happy to see that I'm not the only one who is annoyed by the endless Ping! Ping! Ping! at times.

I do know how to block them, but what if they suddenly have something useful to say? And as for using mods just for this reason? I haven't used any mods in ages. I rather stop playing than be forced to use mods to make the game playable.

It might help if at least the dead players would be silenced. Maybe not right away, but in a minute or so? Or maybe WG should introduce a cold down period for pinging? Just a thought. What is certain, this frenzied pinging must be dealt with.

For some that works indeed, but not for all. But the amount of patches this year is getting rediculess. Looks like they arent testng anything anymore and just bring out event after event and later patch the flaws, rigging and other things they had not realy thought through the events have. And after a few days need another patch to fix the first patch since that broke more stuff than it fixed.

Yup, it's actually auto-reaction for me at this point and has been so for a long time. As soon as the map keeps getting ping-spammed, it doesn't have to be at me, just as soon as that happens, I automatically mute whichever player/players are doing it. That way it doesn't influence or effect me at any point. I'm not sure if most players know they can actually mute a map spamming player. I can't even remember what the option says, blacklist player I think? It doesn't actually add that player to you blacklist but just mute them for that one current battle.

And for players that complain about bad language and been flamed at etc, the same selected option also mutes that player too although personally I like to read the rage it's funny but hey, that's just me.

Agree with OP and also about all these patches. Just use vanilla mod and the last install survived 1 day. Developer can take up to a week before the next one is ready and then you can be sure an update is looming. Not complaining as still enjoy the game without mod.
