So here is a shower thouhgt for today:

Since friendly fire is turned off and doesn't damage tanks.... why don't WG just change so that friendly fire could be used to turn flipped tanks back up?

See a friendly tank flipping? Just shoot him to the side and he is good to go.

Arty players would be the best at doing this since they have so much experience shooting their own teammates.

Concerned you're thinking about WOT team damage while showering.

I "helped" a team mate yesterday.  As I pushed him to flip him he rolled down the cliff.  It was only when he went into free fall and exploded in a fiery death that I realised that the cliff was vertical (perhaps even overhanging) rather than sloped.

I was so surprised I followed him over and we died side by side in a fiery blaze of Nope.

I lolled.

The brutal cliffs, unrealistic ease of flipping tanks and often ludicrous difficulty in righting flipped tanks, all detract from the game play ... unlike Friendly  Fire which enhanced it.

But FF caused support ticket moaning and that's more important than game play.

Combine the OP idea with this, and we give every tank out there a grappling hook with a spring-loaded mechanism :great:

Ooooh and it really ought to be incorporated into the physics engine so you need a tank with sufficient weight and/or engine use to get it done. You'd have light tanks doing drive-by grappling shots just to get the kinetic energy needed to break the inertia before the flip.

Since I often hear this is an 'arcade' game, why not just have a keyboard button that 'resets' your tank in like 1 second.

At that point it might as well be automatic...

why have that tank flipping in the first place?
since the "annoyance" of friendly fire got removed, we can return to non-flippable tanks?

It added realism!...to an arcade game.

You'd expect a realistic game to:

- not blow up your flipped tank automatically after 30 seconds

- provide a winch mechanic to allow other tanks to help flipped allies

We have neither.

Imagine if you had the option to choose to leave a flipped tank when you know nobody's gonna help?

Imagine if you had the option to not even require an ally to winch you out of trouble, but just attach it to a tree, building or rock strong enough to withstand the pulling force?

Imagine.

WG if you're gonna add realism to the game, at least to it right and fully, not this half-real-half-fake hogwash...

It's not that simple. It's not like somebody one day flipped a switch that turned "flippable tanks" from 'off' to 'on'. Flippable tanks are a consequence of physics engine updates. Similarly soapstone rocks are an unintended consequence of changes to that physics engine. Every tweak has consequences, if they make tanks unflippable we're bound to see other unintended behaviour.

Of course the simplest solution if they want to get rid of it is to reset tanks to a proper position instead of destroying them when the flip-timer's up rather than preventing it completely. A long time ago they gave us the ability to drive off edges and push other tanks (or their remains) which, quite frankly, was a great improvement to various aspects of this game (no more spiderman-tank behaviour and no more permablocked passages). Tanks mostly behave in a way you'd expect them to behave now and that includes flipping if you do silly stunts. Why have it? Because it adds consequences to people's driving behaviour and reduces reckless nonsensical stunts, much like the addition of these physics reduced spiderman-scenarios.

The game is becoming more and more unrealistic and you got this idea? Why not an alien spaceship doing it when pressing the DEL key?
