either have a TD with enoough power try to deal with them , or annoy them with HE.

I still remember a clip where daki kept losing 200~HP because an enemy 5A kept firing HE(he then blacklisted the player because...reasons)

And since most tanks at that tier have enough HE power to do some paint scratches, it is the best way to do so

The important thing needs to be noted:

- if you are a (top) tier X heavy on a heavy corner against 279/Chief - you should not and probably you could not run away. Sometimes there is nobody else to fight it with a tool for the job (that you have).

- if you are in a tier VIII tank, especially a LT an MT, I wish you luck whatever you try. If you have faced him on heavy side you are doing it wrong most probably, and if that is not the case then your team is doing it wrong, or it is all over so there is nothing you can do.

Some 20 days a go, I was in e75, map Steppes, south spawn, went left, had E3 with me, they had 279 and VK ausf B.

I was shooting VK and E3 spammed APCR to 279, killed him very, very fast and we moved on, almost lost on neutral base cap..

Needless to say I was surprised, but it happens. Problem is when you meet those tanks with lower tiers..

Idk, they are OP as hell but there are so many things wrong with this game at the moment its just..too much

Not many tanks have 375 pen APCR though.

I was fighting a 257 at point blank range yesterday in my 279e and he penned my UFP (I was angled slightly) 3 out of 4 shots. His 315mm was ample at that range :(

I just shoot them until they are dead. Pretty much every tank I meet.

I'll tell you what happens from the other side.

With the chieftain, there is usually only 1 spot on every map where you can sit hull down properly. Most of the time, there is nobody there. Everyone sees you on the enemy roster and they simply don't bother to show up on that flank, which forces you to push through open field, taking arty and td fire if you want to have a good game. The other times, stupid people just show up there and get farmed. This is why i find the chieftain kind of boring and i feel the need to switch to another tank from time to time to break up the monotony(like ebr, progetto, jageroo etc), tanks with drastically different playstyles.

With the 279, same story. Noobs show up on the heavy flank and get farmed, or everyone camps in the back, forcing you to push them, which can sometimes result in you getting flanked and killed. One funny thing i noticed with the 279 is that if i go on the "medium flank", meaning a relatively easy to get to spot in which heavies usually don't go very often(mannerheim line 2 line comes to mind), the people who tried to avoid you by not going to the heavy flank end up there. And when you get spotted, they sometimes instantly turn around and run away, even if that means getting shot in the back/side by your camping teammates. They legitimately kill themselves because they refuse to fight you, despite the fact that if you use a bit of brain, a 279 is not that much harder to kill than a well positioned IS-7.

I find it really funny how much these tanks influence people's decisions. Whenever i play a regular, slightly op tech tree tank, everything is the same. But when i am in chief or 279, it feels like the whole enemy team's sole purpose is to ruin my game(maybe rightfully so).

And don't even get me started on arty and HE spam. Basically these tank's power level gets somewhat diminished by people either focusing too hard to take them down, or, arguably even worse, refusing to fight them. The chieftain faires relatively well to the running away part, since it has a good enough speed to catch up to the action, but the 279 is heavily crippled. I've had lots of 279 games where i clear the few noobs who show up on the heavy flank, and then just fail to catch up to the front lines anymore and just end up with a pathetic 3k dmg game.

The best way to outplay them is to play on their overconfidence, and everyone is overconfident when driving those tanks.

Depends, when i have a good angle, kill it with AP.

If i can't pen it, load HE and lure it into a position where it can be shot by orbital laser canons.

Go to tanks.gg and see where you can pen it

Object 279 (e): Lower UFP, below the ridge, but only when it's on flat ground. If the UFP is even slightly angled up you cannot pen it. If so, try to snipe cupola's. If nothing works, lure it away from that position instead of scratching it with HE. If possible, flank to side or rear for easy pens.

Chieftain FV4201/T95: Lower plate or flank, in hull down position you can't snipe the cupola and everything frontally is at auto-ricochet angles.

Have now had some experience with both tanks and this is pretty much spot on.

"I stand and fight them regardless". This tomato mentality is why we have so many wipes because proud twits like you sacrifice your tank vs something you can't kill frontally. GG.

My reason for this question is that I've noticed a lot of player just retreat to the other flank or start redlining/protecting arty!, and dont even try to take the fight! I personally just start to help them do blocking missions!

Easy, really.

Drive up next to him and start shooting the green ones, just pretend you're on his team and hope he doesn't notice.

Whenever I see a Chieftain or the 279 on the enemy team.. I feel bad for the streamer.
