I loved Swamp both before and after the changes. It rewarded aggressive play most of the time but did have areas where, if controlled, were difficult to lose from

Not missing that campfest, but knowing Wargaming they'll eventually bring it back in some form, they seem to have done that with most maps eventually.

Just hope they don't "fix" it like they "fixed" Erlenberg.

Yes! Erlenberg was way better before HD in my opinion.

Didn't remember it as a campfest, unlike Erlenberg.

Swamp sniping area had a really shallow line of fire and could be easily circled by good MTs winning north or by good HTs winning castle and using the rocks as covers.

Really miss Swamp.

Hype for Windstorm and Swamp in HD. Those were great maps.

I do sometimes wish for a game on Swamp, or Windstorm, or Sacred Valley... the only map I'm glad that they haven't brought back is Stalingrad

Idem, really despise the reworked version.

If they add back in the two low hills around the top left/bottom right areas of the map and rework some of the idiotic campy map borders vegetation near the spawns this map could become instantly better again IMO.

Also I do miss Swamp, also Servergorsk and that Mediterranean coastal map. What was it called?

Old Fjords I really miss the most, what we have now I can hardly describe without being auto censured.

In general i find the old maps to be better. Some of the best maps in the game right now are also the old ones (bar airfield, what a terrible map)...

I wouldn't mind them bringing back pearl river either, plus the already above mentioned maps.

The issue with some of the newer maps is, that initiative is punished. Good luck pushing across open fields in Minsk, new Erlenberg, Glacier and Studzianki.. Its all the same set up - Open field then funnel into a small space of fighting and then open field behind.

Not to forget the mostrosity Empires Border is.

And in the same time BF5 can add a map or two every 3 months, and those maps looks 10x better.

Some tanks are really nothing without a specific map.

Some tanks like, lights, and TDs for sure.

Imagine strv 103B in Himmelsdorf or a LT as well. They can't do much?...

So why they don't design a new multiple maps that all tanks can fit in it?! Such as Kharkov after editing.

I would really like to see new, big and multiple maps that all tanks can fit inside it.

Well, sadly the heat maps of it are gone now as the site is down. But it would explain why WG did not like it. And South won a bit too often iirc.

But... they did say they did plan for HD reworks of old removed maps. And did mention this just before 1.0 along with maps we already have gotten back. So might still see it yet. As it was kinda a fun medium/light map. But personally, I hated playing HT's on it.

If you did see their map team size vs WG, it would not be hard to see why. It's basically its own floor on the Dice building. Then again they still use a few months pr map. WG say they use about 7 to 9 months pr map with their team. HD map reworks took 90 days pr map iirc.

Are you having a laugh? BFV Is quite dry of maps compared to previous Battlefield games. We had 8 Maps on launch, Panzerstorm come out a bit later and then a long period of nothing before finally getting Mercury and Marita (both tiny), Al Sundan stuck in a loop of "coming soon" (though available for smaller modes) and we just got Provence and Lofoton, both only small gamemode maps. It's almost been a year since launch. My memory is not perfect on it, but at a similar point of time in BF1, we'd have 9 Maps on launch, Giant's Shadow as a free addition soon after, They Shall Not Pass with 4 New maps and In The Name of the Tsar on the horizon which then came out with 6 Maps (was Nivelle Nights added before INT As well? I forget).

Atleast in theory it's picking up soon, with Operation Underground (Metro) and the Pacific content.

>tfw you realize they removed (forgot to HD-ify) all the maps that were actually good

I loved Swamp, I remember it as the map I had the best games on, particularly in the Tier 7 Leo, the Chi-Ri (yes really), and in light tanks.

Sacred Valley was very nice too.

I wanna see Hidden Village the most out of all, particularly with the HD engine and its out-of-map relief rendering. Remember Mt. Fuji in the corner of it? Now it no longer has to be part of the map to be fully visible!

Honestly, it was one of the best-looking maps back then...

As long as the new and bigger maps are not created by WG I agree.

Be charkov is crapimo.

Improvements.

Remove the redline bushes and lowground area at the K and A-line. Make those 2 areas flat without bushes.

K0 and A0 areas should also have the bushes removed completely.

The dip that runs through the map should have many more ways of roads up and down, to allow moving over the map.

Put more rocks/cover in cap circle.

More entrances to the housing area are needed, instead of balconies,  remake them to entrances into those house areas.

Then you have a start.
