I bought this one out of curiosity as the Wiki said it was rubbish, but I thought a German medium trainer might come in handy.

And it is rubbish.  Slow, sluggish, bad armour, only helped by a decent pen, low alpha gun

And yet it has so far turned in nearly 70% wins

Fluke, beginner's luck, or does it have some hidden genius that I have so far overlooked?

Maybe it isn't the tank and you have been undervaluing yourself all these years. Maybe it's your time to shine Mr. bulldog. :)

I also noticed an increase in DPG in the last 24 hours so you must be doing something right.

It would be nice to think so but if I were an equity in this game I think my recommendation at best would be: Weak Hold

Oh you're only 28 games in. It's not even begun to shine yet.

I recovered mine little while ago. Maybe time to 3 Mark it. I never thought it was that bad, although seemed to remember it having Pref MM which i was wrong about as one of my first games in it when recovered was tier 8 :(

Wasn't this a tier 5 that was modded to 'compete' (and I use the term loosely) at tier 6?

If I remember correctly, it was the go to KV-1 killer of it's day. Probably why it got demoted....

It isn't my fav either tbh but any tank that drags up my crews and gives me a little extra quids is worth the pain :)

What's puzzling about the Pz IV S is that the Pz VK 3002 M tier 6 Panther (ditto the Pudel and Bretagne re-badged variants of the 3002 M) has the identical turret and gun but is in all other respects better, being a lot faster and having a much better hull.  It could be that the Pz IV S keeps me out of trouble by forcing me to play it primarily as a hull down sniper which is too slow to reach the initial front line conflict.  Meanwhile it is doing wonders for training my Pz III/IV crew, and that tank is genuinely amazingly effective.

I own one and I rather liked playing it. Nice gun and as you say: You're so slow other people soak up the damage whilst you are trailing behind.
