Hello everyone.

People are saying the AE Phase 1 isnt that good and it isnt worth the time required to grind.

Well i think thats a misconception.

First of all lets look at the time required to grind up to Prestidge 10.

Surprisingly it isnt all that much.

I remember a post way back before Frontline began where someone claimed it would take 700 hours.

In reality a super unicum nedeed around 6-7 hours for each episode , blunicums needed around 8-10 hours and Greens needed around 12-14 hours.

Thats about 9-10 hours on average multiplied by 10 episodes gives 90-100 hours in total. Thats way less than people thought.

Now add the fact that xp boosters were introduced (in episode 7 if i recall correctly). Thats an additional 50% time reduction for 1/3 of the total grind which should reduce the total hours down to 75-83 hours.

So the conclusion is that the total time required isnt as huge as people thought making one of the basic arguements invalid.

Personally it took me around 100 hours to finish the grind because i didnt use any xp boosters until i already got to Prestidge 9.

Again thats not a lot of time invested over a period of 8-10 months.

Now lets get to the tank.

Is it any good ?

Yes and no. Its better than the M103 but worse than the Conqueror albeit not by much.

Pros

* Premium crew training status (T29 / T32 / T57 / T110E5 crew trainer).

* Very good frontal armor and gun depression make it a hulldown king.

* Free Large Repair kit mechanic (saves 20k per use).

* Novelty factor (rare - unavailable)

* Better than M103 & Tier 9 has the best matchmaking.

* 2nd best DPM at Tier 9 Heavies behind Emill II.

* Nice visual design.

Cons

* Slowish.

* Huge target.

Lastly we need to add the Emil 1951 (or STA2 if you picked that one) to the mix plus 7000 bonds , 3200 gold and millions of credits you get.

I would say grinding to Prestidge 10 is DEFINATELY 100% WORTH IT.

Even though for me Frontline was mostly boring and frustrating i would say the overall rewards are 100% worth the time.

Personally im happy i finished the grind and im not going to bother again with Frontline in the future. Goodbye Frontline.

Yeah, I changed my mind about the AE. I'm going for it.

I've managed to nab the Emil 1951, and am currently ploughing towards the AE.

Life's too short to bother with things or people that are mostly boring and frustrating.

They broke frontline by putting in all the airstrikes and other nonsense, I could have put up with that but then the players started actively Avoiding winning to spin the game out and score points.

I don't blame them for that I blame wargaming for making it possible.

Lastly I am really bored with reward tanks they are just pretend premium tanks with fewer advantages.

So Ill pass on this tank even if its fantastic its still not worth my time

I was level 3 prestige when they introduced boosters.
Now I already finished level 10 prestige somedays ago.

So I used 35 boosters from level 3 to level 10 prestige.

You get around 3-5 battles per one booster. Good battles take a little longer. Bad battles are short.
for one prestige level with boosters you need 3-4 hours ?
And for 7 prestige levels with boosters I needed around 40-50 hours.

And since sitting is one thing that according to doctor I can do I used it for this. If I was healthy I probably wouldn't played games.

I remember playing a table-top wargame some years ago, which was a tactical battle set in Afghanistan.  I had the locals team and my victory conditions were to survive.  The foreign invaders came in with tanks, APCs, helicopter strikes and marines.  My guys had AK47s.  After 3 hours of incredibly boring play my guys had lost no one and my team won the game.  Both the umpire and the opposing team were very angry that I had not been sporting enough to give them a fair fight.

If there is a lesson there it is that if rules can be abused, they will be.

If you like FL then yes it's worth it.
If you can only stand to play 1 hour of FL every month like I do, I'd grind the Conqueror instead.

It's not worth the grind,because it's not russian.

People keep forgetting all the other benefits FL brings when you reaching prestige X: lots of gold (nothing compares for f2p players) , bonds, a good credit and tank exp grind, ideal matchmaking, and tanks at the end or gold or bonds if you don't want the tanks, out of which some can be traded in. Also, it does break the monotonous randoms.

It might be because i got too used to the chieftain, but by comparison(tier for tier ofc), the AE phase 1 is useless. It's not fast enough, the hull doesn't have auto bounce angles and the turret gets penned by tier 10 gold quite easily.

While it is indeed better than the m103, when we look at it's main competitors as tier 9 heavies, the Conq has a really good turret and gun, the m4 has good enough hull to brawl and bully lower tiers with a better gun handling, and the 50TP has insane alpha coupled with good everything else.

So, it's just not good enough, which is actually not too bad. What I mean, is that while I feel bad cause my reward is underwhelming, there is going to be a lot of no life bots who will get it, so the mm not being infested with an op tank is pretty good.

it's very easy.

the AE Phase 1 is available to everybody, it does not require any skill at all to get it.

I bet the pubbies will cry "OP tank, WG NERF OR U LOSE ALL PLAYERS" as soon as the Kampfpanzer 50T hits the ground.

A lot of players have difficulties in understanding what an OP tank is, compared to "a tank played only by good players".

I for myself enjoy the AE Phase I quite a bit. Is it better than the Conqueror, Emil II, Obj 705, 50TP or M4? Probably not, but they are well rounded and balanced tanks.

Phase 1 aint shite compaired to t95/fv4201| and the t9 ranked battle med tank. WG is just catering to the pro's, not the casual hero.

Well, like all these events its only worth it if you're having a wonderful time playing that many frontline battles, otherwise you're spending hours of your life that you won't get back 'working' for a pixel tank. I find frontlines frequently annoying, so I haven't managed to achieve prestige 1 yet. Ergo for me it defo would not be worth it.

I find the AE Phase 1 really MEH tank. It is great hulldown tank, with really unreliable turret. Also the hitpoint pool doenst represent heavy tank aspect IMO, as many tier 9 mediums have similiar, or close hitpoint pool as this one. Gun is actually pretty ok, specially the HEAT pen is supreme. If wargaming would tweak a littlebit it's mobility, or give it +100 or +200 hitpoints more, it would be really great. At this state, I dont recommend to nolife grind it. If you are close, go for it. But if you really have to grind the living crap out of you to get it, then dont bother.

"What do you mean turret is unreliable?"

If you face straight at your enemy, the turret bounces quite nicely, but even a tiny slight angle against enemy, and you are going to get penned like no other day. I mean, you can look a bit away with conqueror, any ruski tank etc, but if you look even 1 tiny degree away from enemy, you are getting screwed. If there are multiple enemies in front of you, the 1 dude who you are looking at will not pen you, but all the others will.

It's a nice tank but the grind was really bad. One map and lots of HE consumables for 100 hours should qualify for bad or at least annoying. :)

I'd have preferred a shorter and more comfortable grind for a lesser reward.

90-100hrs in frontline is far too much for AE, it would be too much for the Chieftain for me.

Hey, 80 hours of "work" for a mediocre tank is totally not as bad as it sounds, right?

I find it kind of funny that the rewards for the game mode where you mostly played fast meds and light tanks are... heavies.
