have just gotten my tier 10 russian arty and damn i just hate it.. 

make about 50-300 on a direct hit on almost everything.. no matter if i hit them in the side og back or front. thats just ridiculous!!

 

i cant even one shot an arty if i find him blind.. 

 

besides that it has a crapy shooting arc that make you miss almost every shoot if there is a little dent in the ground.

 

have they nerfed this one like the other russian tanks or are all tier 10 arty so bad??

 

have already sold my is7 my win rate was 37% in that. got back from a 6 years brake and damn they have nerfed almost every line i have played my way up to from then.

Wasn't the IS-7 buffed some time ago?

Anyways, if you came back after 6 years you should probably not start with tier X right away, maybe stick to 5-7 and relearn the game.

Welcome back but don't you think it's better after a 6 years break to play in lower tiers for a while to get used to the game once again.

 

Anyway, yes all arty were nerfed more than once in the past few years including the 261.

Currently, for a tier X arty, you should go for the american arty or for the british arty. The yankees win, though. But the british arty is your second best. The german arty is not bad, but has poor handling and quite a few misses. The french arties has poor penetration and damage and a high reload time after you empty the clip (probably the worst tier X arty). Object 261 has a decent rof and aim time, plus a good reload, but it doesn't shine in any way. Still, better than the french arty.

261 is not good for damage. It is accurate, fast aiming and can relocate though. Maybe it is a good thing it doesn't deal much damage.

Don't play the French line then. Difference vs this and the tier 9/8/7 top gun you have played is the ROF and HE pen for less alpha. So either you want to hit hard and less often, and hit less often. Or more often for less, but hit more often. As if it's the 1st one. Don't pick this.

The secret for good arty game in the current patch/meta is to hit several tanks at the same time. Look for angles in well known cluster locations.

 

Blind Shoot the most notorious bushes where TD's cluster... The small hills in Paris, etc

 

AIM to the tank clusters and avoid lonely easy to hit frontal shots in super heavies. If games are lost, don't just wait and hide to make the last hit... its a waste of time for all.

 

Avoid the French tier 9 arty at all cost.

Played a load of games in the 261 and yes it has plenty of drawbacks, the worst of which are the shallow shell arc and low amount of ammo. It does have good accuracy and the maneuverability to stay alive though.

Btw city maps affect it worse than other arties because of the shell arc so its a matter of gambling on your position or just accepting you arent going to hit anything.

im playing a little of all now for 2 months.. from tier 7 and up. im a pretty sharp arty guy i think. but its clearly they have nerfed them..   currently running the British line from bishop and up and have just decided to use free xp to tier 7 British arty:-) also have Lorr155 the G.W. Tiger (P) and M40/43 and last Crusader SP. but the su14 and 212 A was my favorite so got there first:-)

M53/M55 and 212A is all you need tbh. No point getting the tier X's. Well besides the French if you want to do their stun missions easier.

Biggest difference IMHO from before is that arties are no longer efficient targeting single tanks, except if they are soft targets.

 

Adapt, aim for clusters and farm stun damage. Games are also much faster now, so don't hope for many good games, even in good arty maps, 1 in 5 would be good.
