As we have had some recent conversations about Maus and Mauscen, it seemed apposite also perhaps to talk about the Mauerbrecher.

This is an old favourite of mine as a tier 8 premium heavy that unlike the rest of my tier 8 premiums actually gets some wins

The forum opinion seems to be that it is just a nerfed VK100  and pretty useless but I did terribly in my VK100 but do okay in my Mauerbrecher

I think it was Urq who kindly did some research on this and reckoned that the Mauerbrecher actually had surprisingly good soft stats even though it looked worse on paper.

Hey!

The thing is that YES, Mauerbrecher has very decent soft stats of the gun, meaning that you don`t have to aim carefully to actually hit the enemy. I know, it sounds unlike many German guns but that`s how it is. On this note: Panther II with the L71 KwK gun also has pretty decent soft stats which make this gun a better option than the in game stats alone would suggest.

Now, when it comes to the tank: for me Mauerbrecher is not so great. I know some good (as in: violet stats) players who say that it`s under appreciated and most people simply do not realize its potential.

It might be true, but for me the one factor that prevents me from playing it often is the speed. It`s not about the tank, I`ve never been a fan of slow tanks.

I only have eight battles so far in my un-Mauered variety (all of them while heavily beered),  five of them last night. Thus far I find it amusing, but decidedly not noob-proof. I blocked 3750 damage in one game and 0 in the next, but I should watch the replays to see where the differences came from. In some battles I made a positive difference (yay!), in some battles I plainly sucked and in one very mobile battle I did not get a chance to do either since I spent all battle chasing after the rest of my team (See them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women! :izmena: ;):great:

Only played a few bouts in mine. I like it but I can't say why if I'm honest. I just seem to get results in it. Maybe because everyone slates it so much, I tend to play it a little more conservatively. Bought it with a voucher and am happy so it's good for WoT and good for me.

I think you have what I think of as forum expert waffle on this one

Yes, any genius can pen its weak spots

Are 99% of players in randoms forum geniuses who have memorised the weak spots on all tanks?

No

As with Blubba's experience, I played maurer by virtue of rental. Was far better than it's legend. Being mindful of weakspots and hiding them as good as one can gives surprising results, probably because due to it's rep it is played rarely.

Edit: had to check- 62WR with good wn8 on 8 randoms. Played 2 games in fl, no rememberance on that.

Any rare tank has a quality all of its own as most will be clueless about its capabilities

My rule of thumb is that a rare tank will add about +10 to win rate

Just got 3 wins in a row in this, with respectable damage done.  Good credit maker and crew trainer.

Its main enemy seems to be the JgPz 100 with its horrible ability to do 1000 damage per shot.

That and small mammals that eat its eggs.

I mean it's a tank that has a bad reputation that I've been told not to buy. But unlike tanks with a bad reputation. I still see them fairly often... So I've always suspected some did see something good about it for me to fight vs it that often. Vs say the Patton 59 I can't even remember the last I did see.

I got mine to 3 mark, But it is actually one of my best tier 8 HT's by stats surprisingly. I absolutely hate it and despise playing it and 3 marked it on stream for a meme, rarely play it since that.
