So there I was in my progetto, sat behind some rubble, 3 shells loaded, when I noticed an enemy obj 268 moving across the middle of the map at himmelsdorf,

as I stuck my nose out to fire at him imagine my surprise when before I even got a shot off he spun 45% and fired and killed me before I could blink, now I doubt a tank with a rotating turret could spin around that fast, but the 268 has a fixed turret, impossible?, I have no doubts, but fire away anyway with the reasons how he did it, sorry got no replay, but I do have more and more doubts about this game.

You see a lot of weird stuff in this game

I think some of it is AI bots being mistaken for hax

He could of used his hand brake, I do believe it's referred to as a 'Handbrake Turn'

What more surprising there was someone that not only knew about that certian feature but actually bothered to do it

Yeah Replay or didn't happen! I mean really someone knows about the physics and actually took the trouble actually doing it!!!! :sceptic:

I can't even remember the last time I saw someone do a handbrake turn in a random game,

45° isn't that far.
Doesn't take that long to turn through and it does have an 11° gun arc, so only needs 34°

Do turn on replays though.  We can't really help more without them.

That's unfortunate, because we have lots concerning the accuracy of your story.

FTFY

Either way, no, he could not, as TDs and SPGs can't do that maneuver.

Some tds are actually able to turn faster for a short time as long, as they keep some base momentum from some forward\backward movement. (For example Strv 103B can make even 120 turns or foch b can also perform short angle turns after it starts turning in a 50 km/h drive while unholding the W key).

I haven't tested it but can you give some proof?

I agree, some TD's can turn very quickly, of course they lose forward momentum doing so. But it's what the TD driver learns to do as turning the hull is their only alternative, what makes me scratch my head is when people say turret traverse is too slow while on the move, as if they can't also turn the hull at the same time.

Oh I know they can spin fast, ever been tracked in a turretless TD only to end up pointing your gun very far away from the enemy when you were moving forward and had them lined up in your sights... much longer to turn back to get back on sight after repairs, though by that time you've taken a shot in your side where your weakest armour is.

It's been there since day 1 of the improved physics, it's really old news, but feel free to test at will, those are still as they were since then.

By locking one of the tracks (space bar), while driving full speed, and pressing a directional button, you can sharply change direction. This manoeuvre is perfect for escaping from enemy fire.

Important! Track locking is available only for light, medium and heavy tanks.
