haven't played in over a year i think, because of the crap matchmaking, imba over-used premium tanks, and broken no-brain premium shells.

 

how's the game now?

If you like having 3 arties and 2 scouts 3 times out of 5 games, it should be a lot of fun for you.

MM is fixed WG style so its bad as it used to be. 
Out of 30 tanks in game 10 of them are very balanced premiums.
Armor is not a thing anymore.
If you have less then 3 bots on team, you might even win.
Low skill players in high tier games doing 100-200 dmg on avg.
Everyday crashes.
But hey you have Frontline in 3 days so, feel free to join.

All in all, if those are the reasons you left then there's no reason to make a glorius return at this time

The game is more and more about extremities in both vehicles and MM. This leads to landside games.

 

One side has either OP tanks or 45% speshul people platooning.

Well I started playing again after a two year break, primarily because the release of the reworked MM. And sec. the 2019 roadmap 'promises'.

 

How the game IMO now is?

Well MM has certainly improved by a bit, but only IF you play solo. Platooning still gets harsh MM and that makes tanking still less enjoyable for me.

 

As for your latter two points, IMO no nothing has really changed on those regards.

In a lot of cases, from my point of view, events and modes (SH/CW) do even more feels like: "ya not running a meta t8 premium? Feel my 'creep' scrub and GTFO!".

The MM is MUCH better, tier 8s get mostly only tier 8 battles.

Well seeing as since the last update I cannot play any replays, I would say the state of this game is even worse that it has ever been,never known any damn company to be so stupidly incompetent.

 

People moan about arty, so they go sell one, you just cannot make this up, lol

Been playing for a week after 10 months out ( on a second account ), for me at least the MM is much improved over the 3-5-7 format, especially at T6 / 8.  Still imbalances in the MM, playerbase hasn't changed that much, ie you still get rollovers, but that was always the case wasn't it?

 

atm I'm going to stick around for a bit and see how it goes.

The matchmaking itself got much better, the 3-5-7 shenanigans are mostly gone. As tier 8 you aren't facing tier tens all day. Many tier 8 only battles are around. At tier X the balance has become even worse. The introduction of the 279e and FV/Chieftain, together with the EBR105 make the game less enjoyable for many.

Current MM is better than I can remember it ever being. Not perfect, but stil...

Tier 6 and 7 are now unplayable, always low tier, vs uber tier 8 premiums.  OK for tier 8 being better.

 

Summary of the game : tech tree is useless, buy a premium 8 or dont play
