did anyone notice that indicator indicates where the enemy is at the moment the shell hits you instead of indicating where the enemy was when the shell was shot?

does this make any sense at all?

Yes it does make perfect sense. Fire direction indicators indicate the direction of incoming fire. It doesn't and shouldn't track the enemy tank on your screen.

The OP says it does. No idea if he or you is right. If the game works as you say, it is logical. His way might be easier to code.

Why don't you elaborate a bit or even better go to a training room, try what you want and post a replay/screenshots with your findings? If you need someone to create a training room, i can help with that.

Can't say I've noticed tbh - let us know how your experiment works out. :)

Not really no, given the really brief travel time of shells and the player-to-client-to-player latency and the potential distance for a tank to move in that time it's something I doubt you can eyeball and not something I'd even try to mid-battle.

Nope, never noticed.  But are there any tanks which move fast enough for it to matter?

Also bear in mind where the tank is when you see it shoot might not be where it actually is.

Tbh I never taken notice of it vs a moving target hitting me at long range etc. I'll keep that in mind next time I get wide flanked by a moving light to see if I notice it.

combine with a slow shell...

sometimes the shooter has enough time to move quite far

Apparently the Covenanter's derp gun has the slowest shell velocity in the game, so you can test it out with that thing easily.
