I can confirm that this claim is untrue - unfortunately.
Since the event up to now I have been in constant discussion with WG's customer service. I provided full evidence that I met all conditions while not receiving the advertised items (garage slot + Vents) which by now is also acknowledged by WG. The given reason for the problem: I redeemed the non-matching code first and the matching one second. But they claim to be unable to solve the issue.
Actually, I am more worried about the business conduct WG is showing here than the actual loot. But either way I really would prefer that someone from WG could sort this out in a professional customer oriented way. Could you support, eekeeboo?
