Hey all

I've started playing mediums recently and have been looking at which line I'd like to play. The general consensus seems to be that the BC25 is good for skilled players, the 430U and Obj. 140 are easier to play, and the Leo 1 sucks. I had a quick look at the stats on tanks.gg and the Leo seems to have some pretty good stats, where as both the Objs appear to be worse off.

What are your guys' thoughts on this? Does the Leo actually suck, or is it a decent tank?

It would be a decent tank,if you would actually had the opportunity to snipe from the back,on some maps you can't do that (ensk, paris, himmelsdorf etc, etc) and on the maps that you theoretically could snipe you will get detected by wv driving around at 100km/h and then you will blow up since you have zero armor.

The 430u is the best med choice in this meta,it's very forgiving and don't worry about the so called bad gun handling,Stalin is guiding the shells so you will snapshot from long distances like a boss.

Still not working even after the recent massive buffs it received. Paper stats don't necessarily dictate how a tank will perform in battle especially at tier 10. The 430U and the Progetto 65 have worse stats yet both are outperforming the Leopard.

I loved the PTA (and did well in it), so going for that at least seems reasonable.

Think Leopard 1 was buffed somewhat recently, so might be viable now again...despite the russian supremacy    :B

Always avoid leopards.

Try changing direction a lot, they have great speed, but are lowsy at turning around.

Once they get their claws into you it's game over though.

Keep in mind, that applies to a lot of other tanks too.

They are medium tanks but do different things.

The 430U will play closer to the action than the Leo. But the Leo has greater DPM, penetration, speed, accuracy and gun handling.

You seem to like TD's. Have a think about your preferred playstyle and what you like doing in the game. If it's playing further to the rear in support, then you may prefer the Leo line. But if you equally want to learn closer in medium play then you'll not go wrong going up the 430U line. Just be aware of what you're getting and wonder why you're missing snap shots at 400m in your 430U.

I had a surplus of bonds around the time the leo got buffed, so i decided to put improved equipment and then went all in and pimped it out to the max, with 5 skill crew, food and rammer directive.

I have no clue how it performs with normal equipment, but fully pimped out it's a blast to play. Easily my favorite non autoloading medium. The gun feels great especially with gold and the mobility allows you to be annoying on multiple flanks. It doesn't work well on every map, but it's very fun to play when it can fulfill it's role.

I wouldn't recommend it to inexperienced players though.

Assuming it plays the same as the Tier 9 PT A, it has a rather high skill floor since you have no armor at all.

What you do have though is excellent mobility and an amazing gun, plus excellent viewrange and gun depression. I've seen Leos act as spotters and walk away with a ton of assist damage, especially on maps that favor that gameplay (Malinovka, Prokorovka).

Also, you have 278 base APCR penetration, so you're not that far behind the Swedish TDs in that department. IMHO that's significant, because you can get away with it without being a gold-spamming tryhard.

... that said, as others have already mentioned, the Object 430U line is perhaps the best to start with.

It's a decent tank.

Though like many have already stated, it has it's strengths and weaknesses.

It loves open maps where it has room to maneuver aka run away and doesn't enjoy best armor contests too much.

I would say just stay at Leo PT A.

Tier X sucks and it's just usless tier to play, especially with such "paper" tanks like Leopard 1...

Leo PT A is a decent vehicle and in general tier IX is one of the best "places" to have fun.

I like it, but it's not easy to play :)

I want to grind the T9 Leo one day, same with Centy 7/1. Although neither seem that strong compared to other stuff like the Standard B and Skoda.
